Can the software be updated to allow a 5.1.4 set up? This would simply mean allowing the addition of two Sonos architectural ceiling speakers (placed towards the rear) to a Sonos Arc surround setup (adding rear atmos). Doesn’t seem like that’d pose a huge technical challenge for Sonos—or am I wrong?

I think Sonos releasing a new One surround speaker that has an upwards driver is more likely
But who knows what they’ll do in the future
