I would like for sonos to add the ability to add more play 5 or Sonos one speakers to Arc. My idea would be to add two more speakers as ceiling speakers that fire down and the sonos arc can be a center channel and perhaps two side firing speakers? I would have two rear speakers two ceiling mounted speakers the sonos arc as the center speaker and perhaps the up firing speakers can be re purposed as front left and right or side firing speakers? And two subs. Would be the best wireless dolby atmos setup.
This will not happen mainly because you are fundamentally changing how the Sonos Arc functions as a Dolby Atmos soundbar.
A more realistic possibility is Sonos allowing users to add two more speakers as left and right side surround channels to create a 7.1.2 setup. Another possibility is Sonos offering a Sonos One with an upward-firing driver so it could be used as a rear surround speaker with a rear height channel creating a 5.1.4 setup.
Perhaps..but if it can be done with a software update Sonos should consider it..I really enjoy all the sonos speakers I have in my home and would rather not switch to another brand for proper dolby atmos for home theater. The up firing speakers on the Arc aren’t great at the moment. Would be nice to see Sonos offer more functionality based on how many speakers you want to add to a particular room.
How far are you seated from the Arc? How high are your ceilings and are they flat and without any obstruction like a ceiling fan? Have you adjusted the height audio level in the Sonos app?
Currently I sit about 4’ from the Arc ceiling is flat I’ve adjusted the height to 10 in the app. I’m moving in a few days and the space that the arc will be in will be better suited. My living room now is open and I know some sound is lost because of this.
I have 8 ft ceilings and my Arc is 6 ft from the ceiling. My Atmos sweet spot is sitting 5-7 feet from the Arc. With the height audio level set to 6, height channels sound really good from Dolby Atmos content. Hopefully you can get similar results in your new place.
Fingers crossed..I have the sonos mount for the ARC also hoping this changes everything!
