Hi,

It is possible to use a Sonos Beam with 4 Sonos One Gen 2 speakers for 5.1 Surround sound, and if so, how well does it work/sound?

Much appreciated

Richard 🙂

The Beam provides the 3 Front channels so you only need two Ines for the rear surround effects speakers. You would also need the sub for the .1 channel.

Thank you kindly.

Does that mean that having 4 One Gen 2 speakers with the Beam, and adding the Sub, would result in 7.1 surround instead?

No. The Beam (and the Playbase and the Playbar) will only accept a DD input - not DTS, or any other home theatre signal.

No, you cannot configure a 7.1 setup. Sonos can only be configured as 5.1, with the L/C/R contained in the Playbar/Playbase/Beam, or 4.1 with the Amp.
