Even when using line-in, there is a noticeable audio delay. It prevents them being used with electronic drums, or for any sort of music production/gaming application.
Is there a way around this? Are there plans on the Sonos side to improve this?
I understand that Bluetooth will always have some level of delay, but line-in should be instant. Sony’s WH-1000XM headphones do not suffer this issue.
With any SONOS unit there will be a minimum 75ms latency with Line-In. This is not some sort of oversight, it’s the design feature that allows SONOS to keep multiple Grouped Rooms time aligned in spite of network congestion.
SONOS is not appropriate for PA or sound reinforcement work.
By why would this apply to a headphone that is accepting a direct signal, and isn’t part of the overall system? I don’t have an Arc, there’s no pairing or anything — the headphones should be totally dumb when plugged in.
The reason for the delay is always to maintain sync across multiple rooms/speakers. I had no idea it also happened with line-in for Ace
