HAVE I JUMPED THE GUN????????

I just received my Ace headphones which I have been waiting for for 4 years!! One feature I bought them on the back of was the fact that you can pick up from the soundbar. I have been trying to do it for hours and just seen it only works with Arc? Is this true anyone know?

I am returning if this is the case

Thanks for any answers / help in advance

The Ace can only swap TV audio with the Arc. Sonos has said the Ace will support audio swap with the Beam and Ray in the future but have not mentioned the Playbar. I would guess that the Playbar will not be supported since it is an older and discontinued product.

Playbar and Playbase have insufficient memory, it seems.

Yes, you have.  There are many traps here, including that one.

@nik9669a , while there may be an aspect of memory or CPU issues involved, I also suspect a lack of Bluetooth electronics.

I was just repeating what Sonos said here:

Does audio swap rely on Bluetooth or is that a wifi connection? Can Bluetooth support 5.1?

Pretty sure it is using a WiFi connection.

If bluetooth is involved, it would be about establishing communication initially (which turning on the swap), not audio transmission.  Sonos has stated that occurs over wifi.

Thanks all. Upgrade to Arc or accept not having this feature. Appreciate all the comments

Oh dear, I expected the Amp to be included in the future list. I only bought the Amp 6 months ago so it isn’t a discontinued product. I’ve tried the Arc but returned it as my KEF speakers and Amp have a much wider sound stage and sound better for music plus the virtual centre channel works great, vocals are clear and ‘centred’.

Looks like I will have to return the Ace’s ☹️

More suspected issues with Ace.  Can you not play sound through the sound bar and the Ace at the same time?  I hope I am doing something wrong. It is not practical to watch tv with my family if they would all have to wear a pair of Ace in order for me to wear mine. Please help.

I’m pretty sure the Soundswap is just that: swap the sound from Arc to Ace. Check the FAQ’s - it’ll probably tell you how many simultaneous listeners are supported too.

Only one pair of ACE headphones will link to arc at a time anyway.

There is always bluetooth...

I also did this, if I upgrade to the arc, will arc work with my sub and my two ones?

Yes but in practice given the buggy app maybe.

I have always been a HUGE fan of SONOS.  They have made two HUGE screw ups.  The new app is terrible!  Unreliable and almost useless for establishing control of your system.  ACE is an over stated and WAY over priced product.  They know we assumed the ACE would have the same core benefit as the main system.  Play sound anywhere at any volume where you have separate speakers and AMPs.  ACE is nothing more than a bluetooth headset.  Heads up corporate!  Listen to your base and do the right thing.

1.  Give your ACE customers a credit or fix it.

2.  Invest in fixing the app or revert to the ordinal app.

By the way, I invested in 16 amps, 6 ARCs, 3 BEAMS, 22 Sets of speakers  and who knows what else….  Show us that you still listen.

Quite a glorified Bluetooth headset, to be fair, as it also supports spatial audio, head tracking, lossless streaming, and several other features - and in fact there’s a lot of stuff there that a mere Bluetooth unit cannot provide.

Can you not play sound through the sound bar and the Ace at the same time?

You spent all that money without reading anything about how they worked?
