Since the Sonos Ace doesn’t come with an included power brick, can I use the apple 20W charger to charge the headphone’s battery? I see that the recommended wattage is 15W, but I don’t have any brick with those specifications. Are the headphones able to manage power by themselves using the provided USB-C cable?

You shouldn’t have an issue using the Apple 20W charger. The Ace will only draw the applicable wattage, so as long as the led is green then it is charging. I mostly use an Anker 65W brick to charge Ace. I’ve also used the supplied USB-C cable with 20W and 30W USB-C PD power banks and not had any issues with them.

I notice that with the Mac 61W charger, the Ace charges faster at about 1.5 hours (website estimates 3 hours). So it seems it doesn’t limit it sufficiently, or its max limit is actually higher. It’s great, but knowing that fast charging is often what deteriorates batteries faster and with reported issues with Sonos Ace batteries in Roam and Move, should that be avoided? I’m worried the batteries won’t last long, but long enough to outlast the warranty. Would be good to hear from Sonos.

Although the recommended wattage is 15W, the support page does not mention what the maximum wattage is for charging. The page also says up to 3hrs to charge from 0% to 100%, so charging at 30W would roughly half that timeframe.

Charging your Sonos Ace

I haven’t checked, but I do have a smart plug with energy monitoring so can check the next time I charge Ace.

I don’t believe the Move has the same systemic battery issues as the Roam (Gen1) and haven’t seen any posts regarding Ace’s battery health since release so not something I’m concerned about.

Just acquired a Sonos Ace.  Was one of the free gifts when my wife bought a car.  Crazy it does not come with a wall charger.  Reading a lot here and in Reddit about Ace headphones not charging any more.  Makes me wonder whether it has something to do with the wall charger they used.  All I have is a Belkin 20 W PD charger that shows a few voltage ratings, some way too high.  Supposedly compatible devices will automatically use the appropriate voltage.  How am I supposed to know if the Ace is a compatible device.  All Sonos recommends is 5V  3Amps.  What wall chargers do any of you Ace owners recommend?

I’m using this one, Tablet on the 65, Ace on the 25 and phone on the 15, all seem happy and the Ace charges quickly.
