Given the unexplained delay in rolling out TrueCinema capabilities on the Ace, the genius marketing gurus at Sonos better not make me have to buy Arc Ultra to get the promised TrueCinema functionality.

Just saying...nothing would surprise me.

Sonos could clear this up by communicating their plans for True Cinema. They must have a timeline for delivery by now as it’s several months overdue or if it’s truly vapor ware just let us know, get it over with.

The trouble is if they were to say TrueCinema will be released before the end of the year …and then come 1st January, it’s nowhere to be seen, then some people may get upset at Sonos for not keeping to their deadline. Who knows what issues maybe unearthed during testing of the feature and presumably it has to work with all the various Sonos Soundbar, surrounds and Sub(s) combinations that might be in the listening environment room.

I just ‘quickly’ read back through this thread and see some users were mentioning July as a launch-date for the TrueCinema feature and of course that might have been mentioned - but you only have to observe the reaction when that date has been and gone - plus I’m not sure if that might even have been a mistake by whoever said it, as there was certainly TV AudioSwap to be added to the Beam (gen1&2) and the Ray beforehand - so maybe those things caused slippage to the TrueCinena launch - or the fact that the CEO later announced the plan to focus Sonos staff on fixing issues with the new Sonos App.

So it doesn’t seem sensible to me for Sonos to set a date - maybe they should just say TrueCinema might show on the Sonos Ace either this year or next and leave it there, just so that expectations are not raised to the extent where users complain when it’s not in the next App/Firmware update, or the next, or the next.

Admittedly the various media articles point to the feature coming later, during this year, but I guess that’s no guarantee and Sonos App updates are still listed for November & December.

Heres another site/article I found…

https://www.techguide.com.au/news/audio-news/at-last-sonos-releases-its-first-pair-of-headphones-the-sonos-ace/

I just personally expect to see the TrueCinema feature when it lands - and I’m pretty sure that much like Trueplay itself, the effect that TrueCinena may have, in some user environments, will be to just make some ‘subtle’ changes to the Ace TV swapped audio, hopefully matching what can be heard in the room. It’s described as mimicking a sound similar to the room itself.

For me, the Ace TV ‘swapped’ audio with the Sonos Arc, connected to our main Living Room TV, sounds very good anyway and I can say the same for the Sonos Beam in our Kitchen/Diner too. So I’m not in any rush to get my hands on this ‘nice to have’ feature, as I personally have more important things I would like to see Sonos fix.

@Ken_Griffiths

…me too! 👍🏻

It would be unusual for Sonos to say anything about a new feature as they don’t usually announce their development plans ...

Are you suggesting that the live video session that I and others watched in early June never happened?

Sorry, I don’t know what live video session you’re referring to? My own posts here were just centred around what I read in the various media articles online. I’ve tried to provide some links to the things I’m referring to.

Can you perhaps kindly provide a link to the video you’re referring to here. I’m still looking for the other articles I read online pre/post the period the Ace was launched.

The discussion of TrueCinema delivery starts after 14:00. They clearly state “late summer early fall” for all features discussed, including TrueCinema.

As mentioned earlier, there’s perhaps been some slippage then - likely a case that the Sonos App has taken priority. There seems to have been some delays to the App development too .. Hopefully we will get to see/hear the new TrueCinema feature at some point this year.🤞

Truecinema needs to be the top priority and now. The deivde has been out for sometime and we were told how the headphones with truecinema were going to let us listen to movies on headphones and sound like we have never heard before....as of right now, they sound awful for movies.

While I agree it SHOULD be a priority, the fact of the matter is Sonos hasn't sold Ace in quantities anywhere close to what they expected. Reports are they cut planned Ace production by 90% so my guess is truecinema is not #1 priority.

I do expect TrueCinema to eventually come, my other thread on the topic got a reply from a sonos monitor that they’re still working on it. But WHEN is anybody’s guess at this point.

Ssorry, but you sold the product. What their expectations are doesn't change on what they told us in order to get our purchase. It isn't living up to what they said it would do because they are to busy fixing things on a one week old product  launch three months after the Ace. Doing crap like this just further damages the brand.
