Given the unexplained delay in rolling out TrueCinema capabilities on the Ace, the genius marketing gurus at Sonos better not make me have to buy Arc Ultra to get the promised TrueCinema functionality.
Just saying...nothing would surprise me.

I really don't know what this forum is for, if they don't bother to answer. In June, at the launch of SONOS Ace, it was announced that the True Cinema function would arrive at the end of the year. That it was something that greatly improved the sound experience with the TV, etc... But almost 5 months have passed and there is no trace or new news about when True Cinema will arrive on Sonos Ace.
People who were confident in buying the headphones, despite all the problems with the app, have been waiting for news since then. In the roadmap of the app until the end of the year, there is not a single mention of this topic. What's more, there are already rumors that since they have sold few units, they are going to release other more "Premium" ones and lower the Ace prices. When we have spent more than €400, it seems that it is not enough to be considered Premium.
Any answer about when we will have and if we will ever get True Cinema? If it is never going to arrive or much later, it is better to know as soon as possible to take the appropriate measures. Thanks.
It would be idiotic to release another set of headphones. Whoever started that rumor..
This is a community or user to user forum. There is minimal presence by Sonos staff and they are clearly marked in their profiles.
If you want an official answer maybe the Sonos Reddit or call in.
Just hoping Sonos doesn’t force us to upgrade to the Arc Ultra for features that should have been available on the Ace!

How ironic. You want something more official, don't come to the official Sonos Forum, go to Redditt. You may even get a response from Patrick or another senior there.
But isn’t this a community forum, and not a pipeline to talk to people at Sonos directly? At least on my screen, the top reads ‘Sonos Community’, and not ‘Sonos Support’. Perhaps I’m confused.

You’ve been around long enough to know the answer to that. Stop trying to stir things up.

I’m not trying to stir anything up at all. I do find it really ironic that on the official Sonos forum, users could get a more direct response elsewhere. I don’t disagree with Stanley_4 at all, it’s been proven before.

It does read Sonos Community, correct. And above that it reads Support.
And in that section, users are pointed here too - where many questions are answered by the helpful Sonos staff. To state it’s ‘not a pipeline to talk to people at Sonos directly’, demeans the great work done by the Sonos staff here, way beyond simple ‘moderation’. So yes, I’d agree with you that you are a little confused.

Regardless of what you interpret, you’ve been here a long time, and the question about “community” vs. “official” has been asked and answered . . . many times. Continuing to ask a question or bringing up the “irony” of something which has been answered many times is the very definition of stirring things up (something you and your username seem to be tailored to).

There’s very little info about True Cinema and so it’s frustrating that you are taking this thread way off topic.

Apologies.

No new news. But now there is 2 of us asking....
I can't wait until the add a "button" to activate Truecinema that literally does next to nothing so they can check that off their.to-do-list
I don’t see the problem here at all. Sonos announced „end of the year“. Now it‘s the end of October. So why do you ask for a date? It’s still not „end of the year“. And even if true cinema option won’t be available late Dezember, I think it’s delayed because all the priority efforts on the app.

The issue is not whether it will be released now in November, December or at the beginning of the year. What is worrying is that since June, before the launch, Sonos has not said a word.
What's more, on Reddit, in the plans they have for updates for the App, there is no mention of True cinema anywhere. Not for now, not for this whole month, not December, etc. And in another post they said that they seem to have removed all mention of True cinema from the Sonos Ace product page.
So, it's not impatience, because they release the feature now or next month. It's uncertainty about whether or when it will be released, since it's been 5 months since they went on sale.

What sonos announced was “end of July” not “end of the year”

Not as far as I know… but maybe I‘m a fool. Any source of information that it was announced for July is welcome.

There was a live Ask Me Anything video session with a couple of Sonos guys in early-ish June. The intended capabilities and roll-out date of TrueCinema was discussed and estimated as “late July” by the Sonos employees. Unfortunately I can't find where anyone saved that video. I haven't seen it stated as “end of year” beyond speculation on the interweb.
yes, I remember that as well. Expected end of July for iOs users first. Nothing about end of year. Since then dead silence, which is actually ironic since the whole new app was designed and rushed to support the launch of Ace.
It would be unusual for Sonos to say anything about a new feature as they don’t usually announce their development plans in advance. The only exception I’ve seen has been about the new Sonos App and restoring ‘missing’ features or resolving reported ‘bug-reports’ with their iOS/Android software.
TrueCinema though was mentioned at the launch of the Ace and looking online in the media it seems some Ace reviewers were given a demonstration of the TrueCinema feature, presumably using the older Sonos Arc. I say that because the same reviewers, in some instance, mention that TV Swap with the Ace was going to be extended to other Soundbars including the Sonos Beam/Ray etc. which has proven to be the case.
My thoughts therefore are (and it’s just a guess) that when/if TrueCinema is launched for the Ace it will not just be for the Arc Ultra and hopefully it should (at the very least) work with the older Sonos Arc as mentioned in those Ace reviews online.
Obviously only Sonos can say for sure when TrueCinema will be released - I also hoped it would be before the end of the year, but I’m personally not in any rush - as SoundSwap with my Ace is extremely good anyway for my ol’ ears.
Anyhow here’s some more information that points to this feature coming sometime in the new year. See these links to media reviews that mentions the TrueCinema feature, albeit briefly…
Note in the second link above it is mentioned that TrueCinema will not be released until next year (2025) - so it’s likely that we perhaps may have to wait a little longer than first thought.
Oops sorry my comment above is not correct - the verge review does in fact say ‘later this year’ rather than next year. My mistake.
So maybe anytime before the end of the year. Assuming there’s no ‘slippage’ in the development/testing of the feature.
That’s what I was also remembering in my mind… „later this year“. And regarding to the massive app issues I‘m not surprised that it will at least mean „late this year“ or „end of the year“. Any other timeline would have been unprofessional behavior.

Admittedly I thought I had read somewhere that TrueCinema was due next year 2025 - but I can’t find where I might have read that. I’ll keep looking.
I assume the Sonos developers were diverted by the CEO to concentrate on fixing the Sonos App ‘missing features’ and bugs etc. first, so it would not surprise me if this TrueCinema feature is introduced at some later stage, either during, or post, December because there’s still a list of Sonos App updates/fixes scheduled for December, which include…
Clearly only Sonos will know when the feature is ready to roll-out and they don’t normally announce these things until they are ready.
I remain convinced though, that TrueCinema will not just be a feature for the new Arc Ultra only and that it will likely be available for use with the older Sonos Arc aswell, particularly as the media reviews mention it working with that soundbar. I’m personally hoping it will be available with the Sonos Beam too - but lets just wait and see what happens.

Are you suggesting that the live video session that I and others watched in early June never happened?

Sorry, I don’t know what live video session you’re referring to? My own posts here were just centred around what I read in the various media articles online. I’ve tried to provide some links to the things I’m referring to.
Can you perhaps kindly provide a link to the video you’re referring to here. I’m still looking for the other articles I read online pre/post the period the Ace was launched.
