Having the same exact issue
Looks to me for my issue like its related to android/google version. Wont work for my on my pixel with gemini assistant but will work on older huawei with google assistant. Have been unable to roll back gemini to google assistant on pixel as of yet
For me it started working again. I tried it today and it connected!. I added the Sonos service to my google home with the ‘works with google’ option.
After seeing these recent posts, I tried last night and was successful in connecting two different Google Assistant accounts to two different speakers. The process still appeared to error out at the end, but it succeeded “enough” that it’s there and working now.
Good enough for me, appreciate the other folks noting that this worked for them.
I’m using iOS in case that helps.
I also saw the comments above and successfully re-added Google Assistant to my Sonos One. Both the Sonos app and Google Assistant show its added properly.
Only errors I encountered were on the Google Assistant app, which were resolved by giving it local network access.
It also had a weird UX bug where you couldn’t read the permissions it was asking for, but again, a Google problem, not a Sonos problem.
Great work Sonos developers! Thank you for fixing this. I’m sure it wasnt easy dealing with the hundreds of angry posts on this thread.
I am curious:
Did anybody manage to make Sonos work as the preferred speaker for a Google Home device (e.g. Nest)? As many of you, I managed to connect the Sonos integration to the Google Home Device (Nest) and also add GA on the Sonos. But playing music on Sonos via a Google device still does not work.
Say “OK Google, play music” → “Okay I will play music on Sonos” → Nothing happens
Hi, just wanted to report that the problem was fix for me last week,
I didn’t do anything special, just one day I tried again to add google assistance to the sonos speaker trough the sonos App and integrate the sonos app trough google home app, and didn’t encounter any more of the issues I was having. Probably there was an update in the background that fixed the problem.

Same problem - it seems that since it’s been reported partially fixed the assumption is that it’s all fixed. I expect to see this thread closed as “resolved” any time now.
Hi @thesame
I can confirm that we do now consider this issue resolved.
If you continue to see issues with adding Google Assistant to your system, or have issue with it not working as intended, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

LOL
Since we’re all here, I’m placing my bets on the community. The sonos app now correctly opens Google Assistant, which is a step forward. However, in Google Assistant, I get “No devices found” after it looks for devices. The device is on the same WiFi point as my phone.
On opening the Google Home app, I see our Sonos devices listed, and I can click play and pause, but of course this is not the voice-control assistant we are looking for.
The second time I try the same process from the Sonos app (“Add a voice assistant”), it attempts to open Google Assistant, then says “This may take a minute” and gets stuck on an infinite spinner screen.
The third time, I tried adding a voice assistant for an individual device. The same issue, stuck on the spinner. After closing it though, the voice assistant is added to the device in the app, but not to the device (it does not respond to voice commands).
The fourth time I add a voice assistant, I now get “Something went wrong”. The time after, I get the infinite spinner again.
Any ideas or similar experiences?
Hi @jodiug
Sorry to hear of the issues you’ve been having.
I recommend going in to the Google Home app and removing the link to your Sonos system, then re-instating it: Google’s Home app » Settings » Works with Google » Sonos » Unlink account, followed by Sonos (under Add New, but best to search in top right corner) » Continue » Continue.
I hope this helps.

I could unlink the account, and then add it again. However, in the Sonos app I still meet the same infinite spinner when trying to add Google Assistant. I am in touch with support chat who suggested the same, going to try and call them now
Hi @jodiug
Sorry to hear that did not help - thanks for trying those steps.
The next thing I was going to suggest was to call in - I hope that they can help you.
Problem solved. After unlinking and relinking it did not work, but on my GF's iPhone she could add GA voice control from within the Sonos app. All I had to do was make sure she logged in with my Google account so the coupling was correct.
There is definitely still an android app issue. The support lady I called tried to find the fault in my wifi network which was clearly not the problem. It works now, I'm happy, all it took was an iPhone.
Hi @jodiug
Glad to hear it - thanks for updating the thread!
Will test this Saturday... way back from UK ...
This morning I was finally able to re-add my Sonos speakers to my Google Home using my Google Pixel 9 Pro.
@Corry P on that note: thanks for your involvement and responses in this thread! Understandably, there are a lot of unhappy voices here, but without the attention and followup from you it would probably have taken a whole lot longer to diagnose, report and fix the issue. Truth is that support departments (like support via chat or phone) are often poorly equipped to identify actual technical issues vs user error. It helps a lot to have technical eyes on a topic like this one
Confirm that, after Nov 20 post, able to add google assistant to beam with google 6 / android 15,
Finally got to my remote location to rectify the problems with my Sonos One and Google Assistant, anxious to try the latest updates. So I did the following: 1) Deleted the Sonos app from S23+; Factory reset the Sonos One; 3) Rebooted the router; 4) Reinstalled the app 5) Rediscovered and installed the Sonos One and updated the One to latest software; 6) Tested that I could play music through the Sonos app (that worked); 7) Unlink Sonos from GA; Attempted to add Google Assistant through the Sonos app - this failed attempting to start GA as before; 9) Used GA to add Sonos - this worked halfway. I still cannot successfully ask GA to play music on the Sonos
My biggest gripe: we pay a premium price for these products and have gotten truly rotten service this past year. We are acting as field testers for Sonos and placing their customer facing staff in a very bad position (as noted above, they are trying to help but are not able to impact Sonos’ bad decisions). It’s time to quit the ranks of Sonosheep (q.v. Isheep)
