Hello

My sonos S1 units just got updated software release 11.7.1.  Been searching the forum and internet , could not find a reference. Anyone seen release notes?

Peter

The latest I see here:

https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/release-notes-for-sonos-s1

is 11.2.6.

I am also looking for the Version: 11.7.1 (build 571437250) release notes. Nowhere to be found it seems.

I’ve poked Sonos about that, although it being Friday, I don’t know where/when the team will get to it. I’ve no idea if that’s just a data update, or if it actually involves a web developer.

Why do you need them, seeing that Sonos now just does essential security updates for S1? You should see no change as a user after the update.

theoretically speaking yes ‘we should’, but practically speaking it could be anything. I still work like to see the changelog before I will update

You could be waiting for a long time; on the other hand, I don’t think there is much to be lost by not updating so that should be ok too!

Hi @peter_217

Thanks for your post!

I’ve requested that the release notes page be updated.

I filed a bug report about wifi connectivity to unify AP’s. Its been a long outstanding issue and would like to see what bugs have been solved in this release.

Hi @peter_217

Thanks for your post!

I’ve requested that the release notes page be updated.

Many thanks, could you check if the release notes will contain references to fixed bugs? I filed one some month ago related to wifi connections from sonos via unify AP’s. Sonos units randomly refuse to connect to these environments.

Hi @peter_217

Work is no longer being done on the S1 software. As @Kumar mentioned, there may be the occasional security update needed to maintain compatibility with a music service (if possible), but that’s about it.

As you’re having trouble with Sonos on a UniFi network, I recommend the following steps:

  1. Log into the UniFi controller.
  2. In the Settings tab, click WiFi
  3. Click WiFi under the Settings page
  4. Click on the network SSID. Note: if there are multiple SSIDs that the players and controllers connect to, the same will need to be done for each SSID.

  5. Scroll down to Advanced Configuration and set it to Manual
  6. Scroll down to Multicast Management and click on Show Options
    image.png

  7. Disable the following options by unchecking the Enable option:
    1. Multicast and Broadcast Control (blocks all multicast and broadcast for non-listed devices).
    2. Multicast Enhancement (converts multicast to unicast when possible).
    3. Client Device Isolation (prevents wireless client on the same AP from communicating with each other).
    4. Proxy ARP (converts broadcast to unicast when possible).

  8. Click on the Apply Changes button at the bottom of the page.
  9. Once completed, allow up to a minute for the AP to provision (apply the settings) and restore online connection, then proceed to rebooting or regrouping the Sonos Players.

I hope this helps.

Hello Cory,

I have been going trough all these setting online with a Sonos support engineer. He logged into my system remotely and concluded that there was an issue with the Sonos software. I have 8 S1 the nodes and one S2 type. All on the same software. Some nodes make contact with the WIFI via Unify, some don't. See my support case under ref:_00D1N2JMtd._5008V1MsOkN:ref . The case was referred to Sonos engineering, but I never here'd back, so quite disappointed, definitely going to look for alternative solutions when updating my network audio system.

I would also like to see what changes in the S1 updates.

Seems my speaker firmware has updates as my 11.5 app has a lot greyed out now..

What I am worried about is compatibility breaking: there is no warning if the new update requires newer O/S for the controller (particularly Android, but I was caught out with Windows at one point)--my phone is using Android 8.0, and I would very much like to know if new updates break that compatibility. I know from past experience that the update component has no safeguards in this regard, and without release notes, updating becomes a gamble.

I know from past experience that the update component has no safeguards in this regard, and without release notes,Fixes that this release provides might affect software that parses Information Governance Catalog REST API responses. The format is now considered of property names (JSON keys) that are returned in search responses for custom attribute properties.

For example, in the previous release a search on the property parent_category.custom_any Custom Attribute for "term" or "category" asset type generated a response that contained a JSON key such as custom_Parent Category - any Custom Attribute. This response is considered to be an invalid REST identifier for a property.

In this release, the response that is returned is the key parent_category.custom_any Custom Attribute, which is a valid identifier, the same as was provided in the request. He logged into my system remotely and concluded that there was an issue with the Sonos software.
