Hi all, just after a little vent so it's on here, and maybe some help in case I'm missing something obvious.

So, apologies in advance, but like a lot of people I have been using Sonos for a very long time, with my current system consisting of 8 speakers covering three rooms, all with voice assistant, and I have never had any issues with functionality until the dreaded App-Gate.

Now, considering I chose Sonos for it's reliability as well as it's sound, dropping from an entirely Linn system (just because of size), I have always been impressed with he sound for such small speakers, and in my experience it's faultless streaming and room functionality.

Since the app, like most I started having a lot of issues, and was disappointed they removed certain features, HOWEVER, I keep reading about updates and read one this morning about Sonos saying they have 90% functionality back, but am I the only one who's system keeps going screwy!?

The other day my speakers wouldn't respond, and although this has happened a lot since app-gate I usually just reboot the speaker, and my WiFi to be sure, and it's all good again. But I tried that... nothing.... I logged into my app and it said there was no speakers on the system. I power cycled my phone and tried again,... Still no system. I tried updating WiFi settings (even tho nothing has changed) it would find the speaker go through the motions and still wouldn't show in the system.

I cleared the app, and re added the system, before logging back in, and I could see the system, but nothing would play. In the end,... I managed to re add my system, but the only way I can get music to stream is by logging into the Sonos app and playing it through that.

My voice assistant won't play music, but is definitely connected as it controls all my other smart devices through the speakers. Spotify will not steam unless done through the app.

I really don't want to factory reset 8 speakers that are all wall mounted (again) unless I absolutely have to. All firmware is up to date.

Any advice welcome, rant over.

Sorry to hear your problems. Since (at least until now) a restart solved the issue temporary I would setting ip addresses for your speakers to resolve possible duplicate ip address issues - which are cured by the reboot. Start with that and see how it goes…

Hi Nik,thanks for your reply.

I can 100% rule out duplicate ip's as I have a full home network setup, with all devices such as the speakers assigned statically in a Dreytek router. It was one of my first checks. (I work in networking and VoIP systems)

The restart didn't sort, that's my problem..I can still only stream when inside the Sonos app, and the voice assistant, although responds fine when I ask questions etc, won't play music when I tell it to "play radio 2" for example.

I get the beep, that signifies it understands and then the music usually starts playing, only it doesn't play. I have this with tune in, Spotify, and other linked streaming services.

The only thing I managed to sort was getting the system to show in the app again by restarting the app (clearing cache etc and reading account and system)

I was trying not to factory reset again unless I absolutely had to.

Thanks for taking the time to respond

Are any of your speakers wired to the network?

Are any of your speakers wired to the network?

2 are yes, the other 6 are over WiFi.

Also, can anyone confirm if they have the following issue in the app... I go into the Sonos app, go to system settings and click on the group of speakers (all in stereo pairs) that I want to look at, go down to voice assistant, and as soon as I click on the speaker that has VA on it, the app crashes and closes EVERY time.

just to confirm, after I had to reset the app (account, app pref, reset) which I shouldn't have had to do, after the app lost my system and wouldn't reconnect even tho it could see it, no changes had been made and was used daily... The system is connected, and I can stream through the app, the only issue that remains is with voice assistant controlling the speakers.

The voice assistant in the speakers is functioning, answers questions I ask it, controls other smart devices in my home etc, just will not control the speakers any more.

I'm about to factory reset everything and go through the motions.

Definitely first world problems that Im annoyed I have to use my phone to control the speaker 🫣 I'm just miffed at the lack of functionality that we are paying a premium for on these speakers!

Thanks for replying 👍

Have you tried unlinking and re-linking the Sonos from the voice assistant end assuming it’s Alexa for example…

Thanks for your reply.

I have yes. I even tried switching from Alexa to Google.

Ive now factory reset my setup in one room (2 X ones, a beam and a sub mini) and that's now working fine. It's just the other 2 stereo pairs.

I dont know weather it's happened during a firmware update or an app update or some form of glitch but Sonos really need to step up!
