The TruePlay option is "grayed out" in the IOS app (80.14.09).
Is this expected? I know the app has been under construction since May.
Anyone else see this?
“Grayed out” may be the wrong term … the text on what *should* be the TruePlay “button” is so faint that it can hardly be read.
… and I should confirm that TruePlay itself doesn’t work … TruePlay “button” presses are ignored ...
I learned on the Reddit group that I needed to force a firmware update on the speakers themselves. I already had the latest IOS app. Now TruePlay works.
Not sure why firmware is not auto-updated along with an app update...
It’s two different processes. One affects the code on your controller device, the other controls the code on your Sonos devices.
I often allow the automatic firmware (scheduled) handle the firmware updates, so that I don’t need to pay attention to it. Which works well, except for the very few hours between when I’ve updated my controller, but the auto update feature hasn’t run to update the firmware. So, 99% of success up time, only the rare mismatch.
Gotcha. Thanks!
Weird. My “Update Automatically” toggle is disabled and stuck in the “off” position.
That is weird, certainly. Try a manual update, it may (and I’m guessing, no real idea) ‘fix’ that issue, if it has to do with a version mismatch between the controller and your speakers.
If it doesn’t, call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
It will not get better with Sonos! After the update, I ran the TruePlay procedure separately in each of my five rooms. It looks successful.... Now that system tells me the very next day that I should please run the True Play setup… Let me guess what will it tell me Tomorrow IF I do the TruePlay setup again Today?
Sonos makes a makeshift repair to one site and opens two new ones at the same time. I'm so tired of being a software tester for this company.
