Hello,

The following is primarily written for residents of the U.S. I can’t speak to how delivery of products may work in other country’s.

During this holiday season or anytime when ordering a Sonos product knowing what to expect regarding the delivery of said product to your door can help to relieve anxiety and stress by setting the proper expectations. Sonos offers 1- 5 day delivery at no additional cost and expedited delivery in 1 or 2 days business days at $25 and $15 respectively.

However, knowing how expedited delivery works is just as important as paying for it. When placing an order on any given day; the delivery “clock” (i.e. time to delivery) doesn’t start until the next business day when the package is tendered to the carrier.  Packages tendered to a carrier on the same day for next day guaranteed delivery is sometimes termed as Same Day Shipping in some circles which Sonos doesn’t offer. Said service  would mostly likely incur an even higher shipping cost above one (1) day business shipping.

  • For example, an order placed on Monday for one (1) day delivery even when  tendered to the carrier on same day may not move until Tuesday, which means you should expect delivery on Wednesday.
  • A similar order placed on Monday for two (2) Day delivery and not moving until Tuesday your expectations should be for a Thursday delivery.

Below are tables that illustrate order dayship day and delivery day for expedited delivery. It should be noted that all time frames depend upon no carrier delays; be they internal or external. If an expected delivery date; for an expedited service is not met, you should contact Sonos (not the carrier) to discuss it. *

Note: Shipping departments typically don’t work on weekends. Also Sonos does not offer an option for weekend delivery which is typically at a premium cost above 1 and 2 day delivery which is carrier driven. However, carriers may make exceptions (during the holiday season) and delivery on weekends to flush product out of their systems to ease delivery burdens. As such consider yourself lucky as you received a service you didn’t pay for😊

  * Delivery for “back-order” products is difficult to calculate and depends upon when the product is once again in stock. It is at that time that the paid for expedited service can be monitored. You’ll have to check your order status or just wait until you receive the email from Sonos that your order has shipped.

So you disagree with what Sonos state on their own website over shipping?

Products that are currently in-stock typically ship out the same day for orders placed by 11 AM in your Local Time

@Mr. T

Thanks for replying. I knew I hadn’t explained myself correctly regarding same day shipping. I’ve corrected the wording.

However, packages shipped the same day as you quoted actually means the shipper (in this case Sonos) has created a “shipping label” and that data is transmitted to the carrier. Typically the carrier will not have the package in their possession until after pick-up which in the US is later in the afternoon in order to capture all packages processed by the shipper.

Sonos promotes the 1 or 2 day expedited delivery in terms of “business” days. Even if the package leaves their dock in the afternoon of the same day; Sonos/carrier have one or two business days to honor the delivery commitment. So an order placed by 11am on Monday has until Wednesday to meet the one business day commitment.

If by distance a package processed by 11am on Monday is delivered on Tuesday...great news for the buyer...but the package would still meet the one (1) business day commitment; even if not delivered until Wednesday.

I haven’t attempted any order using the US Sonos Store, so I don’t know the exact wording used for the expedited shipping options.

However, the order process should make it clear anyway when to expect delivery as US buyers are given customised list of delivery options based on their location, plus buyers can track their order which also provides the expected delivery date.

For the UK, “orders for stock items placed on working days before 2:00 PM will be delivered for free the next working day”, this means the buyer should expect delivery the next “working” day if placed before 2PM. Therefore, using your example of an order placed by 11am on Monday, a UK resident should expect delivery on the Tuesday to meet the next working day commitment.

I think the key wording is One or Two Business days vs Next Working day🤔

Recent order, placed late on Dec 5th, shown arriving the 10th.

Arizona, US, default UPS shipping from CA.

Got tracking numbers for each package in the order.
