Was excited to get the Sonos Beam 2 in the mail, hooked it up to my TV…...then…..Sonos happened.

Forced to install a phone app, forced to give Sonos every permission available (location, full name, email, network access, microphone access, phone access, history access?). It’s just a speaker! WTF?!

Forced to use Sonos app to use a speaker I just payed $500 for? Can’t play any audio from my phone to the speaker, no music, no radio, no podcast, no other devices. All must pass through the one and only Sonos app on the one phone entity with no other connection options permitted. Can’t connect directly through the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, ever, zero, ditto, natta. Jokes?

This system is very similar to Apple products, that plenty of people own and love, that I refuse to use. If you use it, it’s the only thing you can use, and will likely ever use, no other options, they own you and tell you what you can and cannot use or do.

I own my devices, they don’t own me. Dodging this companies trap!

Take care!  Brush your hair!

Thank you for those interesting thoughts. I certainly agree that it's only a speaker.

You should probably look into the Denon HEOS home speaker system. It uses Bluetooth as well.
