I cannot TRUST Sonos anymore.

After latest software downgrades (they are the opposite of upgrades) I cannot access my Music Library from the app on my phone. Music Library disappeared from the controller on my Mac. Spent 3 hours with a Sonos engineer (after spending 2 hours getting someone to talk with) to get a work around. I just don't have the time for this and have decided to move on from Sonos. Who can suggest a brand that offers the same functionality but is trustworthy?

I used to think Sonos was the best in class. Spend €000’s on 9 piece system over 2 houses. Will write that off. But even worse, I recommended Sonos to friends and family. How embarrassing that now seems.

Totally let down. Software releases absolutely value destroying. If I owned the stock, I would sell/short.

Depends what you mean by 'same functionality'.

Tell us what and how you use the existing system - streaming, local files, podcasts, etc. Synchronised, multi-room?

Multi room - 2xPlay5s,  2xPlay3’s ,2xPlay1’s, 1x Boost, 1x Sub, 1x Amp driving old multiroom wired speakers (LS7’s from the 1980’s). Play synchronised or individually.

All linked to Apple Mac and iPhones.

Primarily for listening to my own music library and playlists stored on Mac. Also airplay from phone.

Don't use or want streaming services as they don't have the content.

Radio important

Grateful for suggestions.

Why not keep your investment and use something like Plex for your local library. The Plex Amp app is great.

Use airplay and forget about the Sonos app.

Hmm.   For the speaker/file sharing replacement probably Bluesound is a possible solution.  The passive speakers would need a Powernode.

Radio - depends as Bluesound only has TuneIn.   Again, if you have specialist radio needs then tunein may not be suitable.

It isn't so simple as a 1 for 1 replacement -

Sonos used to do it all, pretty much!

My advice: act in haste (anger), repent at leisure (disappointment).

@Greenland I feel your pain and am just as annoyed/frustrated.  My plan is to wait for the fixes to 80.x to a point where it offers the same function as version S2 16.x.  Then effectively try and freeze my system.  Any future updates will only happen once I’ve confirmed what has been added, or removed!  I  still get annoyed with myself that I leapt on the new app upgrade as i believed the marketing Hype.  You live and learn!  Like you my trust is shot in this company.  I can’t see me adding any new products either.

I chose Sonos as there is no system that offered what Sonos did prior to 7th May.  Other suppliers have done similar “sketchy” things to their customers.  I hope the new “improved” app does at least give me back the functions I rely upon soon.  We shall see.

I want to see Sonos recover from this, or we will all be in trouble in the future as the app would decay and not work with later iOS or Android versions.  I do worry about the arrogance of the executive team though, and have sympathy for the support teams that have been thrown under the bus during this debacle.

It's almost at times as if the new S2 app is designed to annoy and infuriate deliberately.

The last firmware update wiped out my existing Music Library.  One moment it was listed under Your Sources, next it just disappeared into the ether without a trace.

So, today I set up an alternative file server.  Nowhere is there a setting to specify the server details.

BUT, out of nowhere there is now a menu option to set up HEADPHONES.

-GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.!

Don’t worry. Music Library set up will come, back to the app, probably.

Just have to wait “patiently”🤬🤬 as some posters like to say.

“My advice: act in haste (anger), repent at leisure (disappointment). “

You're probably right. Thanks.

Sonos need to issue a Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa - with a promise that this will never happen again. Chance would be a fine thing.
