What is the meaning of the term OTP in the About my system settings?

Hi

OTP usually stands for One Time Password. Are you using some type of VPN? Sonos doesn’t require an OTP; at least not to my knowledge, as I’ve never been asked to use one.

That’s an interesting question, and to go along with it, not all my devices show that (in particular, the Amps don’t, all the speakers themselves do).

@AjTrek1 , go to ‘About my system’ and look at the details there. At the bottom of each speaker I have currently (PLAYBASE and PLAY:1s running S2), there’s an OTP: with nothing after it at the bottom. Never paid any particular attention to it, as it was blank.

@Airgetlam

Thanks for the directions but; oddly (or maybe not) none my speakers make reference to an OTP. I no longer have any pre-Sonos One (nor Sonos One) speakers so I wonder if that has anything to do with why I’m not seeing the OTP. Come to think of it I do vaguely recall seeing the OTP reference in the past or maybe it’s your power of suggestion leading me to believe I saw it 😂😂😂

I always thought it stood for 'Over (the) Top Protocol' and was linked to the IPv6 networking protocol for 128 bit addressing. Something to do with Cisco and virtual addresses where a WAN is seen as part of a LAN.

I think I have seen screenshots on the forum in the past, that shows an IPv6 address next to the OTP entry.

I'm not absolutely sure though… just something I have seen/read at some point in the past.

None do show on S2, I think, but it still shows up in the S1 App ‘about’ box. That said I don’t now have any older products (Play:1’s etc.) currently running on S2.

“One Time Programmable”

The last time I recall seeing a populated field was on an S5 (aka Play:5/gen1) where it appeared to refer to a boot loader version.

I think the group Naughty By Nature made a song about that.
