For years, complaints and feature requests for the S2 app came in on a frequent - almost daily - basis on these forums. Now, I read nothing but praise for it in a lot of posts over the last few weeks. I know some folk are having issues with the latest app whilst others with, if seems, different network or protocol setups are saying everything is fine. But how quickly the S2 shortcomings seem to have been forgotten!
Yeah it’s interesting. I guess since S2 could do basic things like reliably set up a speaker and had better queue management than an iPod shuffle from 2005. Iit worked for most. In 12 months when Sonos finally adds everything back and fixes the bugs the sentiment will likely change again
It’s all relative, isn’t it?
I’m still using 16.1, with all its silly irritations - such as the fact that you have to hit each of the control icons in exactly the right place, to the millimetre, when there’s a huge empty space all round it. And the fact that so much screen space is wasted if you try to use it in landscape mode. And the fact that it gets the display of how much track is played and how much left wrong with some formats. And that the recently played content just vanishes sometimes.
They’re still all like it, but somehow they pale into insignificance compared with the alternative...
I am also using 16.1 however I only use it for volume control and grouping speakers
I have removed all my favourites and playlists from my Sonos and I play all my music from the WiiM app as I bought a WiiM mini and connected it to one of my 5s
I use Alexa to play my audio books so I have a lot less stress than I see reported on here
I took these steps before the latest patch was released in may as I was asked to be part of the beta testing earlier in the year
it was to test a web application and I didn’t want to control my speakers from the web, a personal choice but it made me think of alternatives
hope all of you guys find yours
