SONOS WHY!!

How have they released a long awaited update, and somehow managed to downgrade the whole system??

I will name a few of the features that were available on the previous app, that have now been taken away: Alarm, add a song to the que, add a song to the end of the que, rearrange the tracks that are currently playing, remove a track from the que, SLEEP TIMER

These are some of the major notices that I have experiences. Why why why??? These features were the pinnacle for me using the whole Sonos system. My whole routine has to be changed now, I can't even sleep whilst my sound system is on, because I have to turn the music off manually, which is SO inconvenient, I don't mean to sound like your typical Karen, but cmon I can't be the only experiencing these issues :(

Whilst typing this message I checked for an update on the app, and there was one available, and now miraculously the alarm feature has popped up, and I definitely know it wasn't there before, so this update must've added the feature back.

For anyone wondering, my version is update is: 80.00.05-release+20240510.78d060b

And to find the alarm setting...

> Settings > Manage (next to 'Your System') > Alarms (under 'About My System') and Bob's your uncle! Should be there, well it was for me, just make sure you are on the version I labelled above.

Anyhow, Sonos Support, I hope someone from your internal team gets back to me, am not just saying this, but many of your users will leave for other systems, you're supposed to be the 'designer' of the sound world, and your system updates are absolutely garbage, please for the love of God bring these features back.

In regards to the actual UI of the app, does feel a lot smoother, but could also be updated, I feel Sonos has released this update way way way too soon, change your UI developers, or whichever manager authorised the release of this update, appalling work Sonos, so very disappointed, I currently own two Sonos Arcs, and was on my way to purchase the surround sound package, for both my living room and front room, but now I am reconsidering, and maybe considering finding a new system that's not Sonos, cus this is appalling.

It’s irrelevant.
We’re not beta testers. We are suddenly without what we paid for until they fix it? Why?

They don’t respect us.

Exactly!

The apps keeps crashing. Cant update my play:3. I cant do anything with the app it keeps getting stuck and crashes. Sonos products are useless now. When will they fix this?

I have to agree 100%. I hate to complain, but my music is important to me and this update, how trivial it may sound, made me angry. Nothing works like it did prior to this update. It sucks to say the very least. Obviously the persons responsible for the update/release don't use the product or care. I thought Sonos was considered elite?

I have a mixed environment, a legacy Sonos Connect and a newer Sonos Port.  Because of this, I am limited to using the S1 app.  Looks like this is a good thing!

Holy.

Crap.

This may be a “change” but it’s certainly no “update.” It simply sucks out loud, stemming for me entirely from random connectivity and services: can’t find the system usually until I close the app and clear the cache; never can finish loading the home screen; always misses one of the speakers when finally open.

It.

SUCKS!

Where can I get the previous version back? It may have been extremely limited but at least I could use it.

Well now you have it….I guarantee the update was required to make the new headphones work with the system….

I’ve commented on another thread about how bad this update is.  I can no longer add my Music Library no matter what I try and this is after enabling SMBv2 in Windows 11.

I’m currently on hold to UK phone support.  At the start of the call it was estimated that my wait time would be 40-minutes.  I’m currently at 1hr 10-minutes and counting.

REMEMBER THAT WE ARE SONOS BIGGEST SALES FORCE.

BEEN RECOMMENDING SONOS TO ANYONE FOR MANY YEARS.

WE MADE SONOS FAMOUS AND BIG.

WE WERE BETRAYED AND BACKSTABBED!

UNGRATEFUL N UNTRUSTWORTHY COMPANY!!!

1 STAR RATING PLEASE.

LET THEM SUFFER

Yup, it’s a real dog’s dinner. Not what I’d expect of a well-run pure tech business. Releases like this are disastrous not just for users but for the business as a whole. Utterly appalling.

Worst update ever - appalling lack of user friendly tech and super glitchy. I’m skipping using the software altogether and now just connecting via Spotify. Sonos, you have lost me.

Overly complex app that removed simple, useful functionality. It's too easy to get lost in the navigation through the pages and settings now. Can't control volume from phone buttons anymore when playing through Sonos from the Spotify app. Was this Sonos update not adequately beta tested or did they just ignore feedback from the test group? I was considering expanding my system. No more after this.  It's a shame, but I'll just hobble along with this eco system until it eventually kills off support for my speakers entirely or the company folds due to lack of revenue. I predict if they don't pay more attention to customer feedback, hardware sales will decline to the point where they require a recurring monthly subscription fee to allow the system to work at all.

Never been one to leave poor reviews but this is appalling.

Is there any way to get the previous version back?

Insanely insanely insanely bad. The worst “upgrade” I’ve ever seen in my life.

Unfathomably terrible.

Sonos I have spent many thousands on your products and now you’ve rendered them useless.

fix it or class action coming your way

I use Sonos for more than 10 years and I can’t believe how bad it is now , with every Sonos product and every Sonos update everything becomes more and more complicated confusing and unstable. I think it’s time to move on and change the sistem , Sonos used to be one of the best regarding home systems sound but with every product and every system update is more and more unreliable, in other words useless. Even a simple task like play station is complicated, for many time I had to disconnect and reconnect the system because was crashing constantly. Absolutely useless, rubbish, ridiculous.

This is horrible. I thought my older tablet messed up the update, so I went to my husband’s iPad and it was the same. I’m trying to play music on one set of speakers, but every time I change stations, it pops up on a different speaker while playing the previous station on the speaker I’m trying to control and i’m scrambling to find out how to turn a set off while two different stations are blaring. I don’t even use most of their features but, what lint-licker thought this was an upgrade? I told my husband Sonos was behind in its field and to move onto a different system. We first got Sonos speakers, soundbar and bridges and all that back in 2011. It was great in 2011. We upgraded about 3 years ago to the newer stuff so we’ll have it until it dies at this point. But I think i prefer to just Bluetooth a speaker to my phone now rather than have to deal with this.

I have sonos system in  3 different countries and the updates sucks, more complicated . I wish i could sell them all and change them to Bose

The upgrade really upset me. Still trying to figure out why the volume controls 2/3 rooms? Really? Please, back to the drawing board IT. What does the Apply button do to try to fix anything. I am very disappointed, please bring back intuitive functions!!!

I’ve never created a profile and made a comment (good or bad) for any consumer product, until now. This update is TERRIBLE! Nothing works consistently anymore. Serious, how could this have been approved and rolled out? It’s offensive to your entire customer base.

Just want to thank everyone for backing up my frustrations … truly a rookie job on the update (not an upgrade!)  … i’m amazed they have not been emailiing apologies to customers in a frenzy to try to alleviate people’s anger - comically they are just sending promo emails!  I don’t like to feel spiteful, but i almost hope they lose business bc of this as it’s embarassing to them and downright unfair to us as users to have to navigate a botch job … i have actually had to stop using my system if I think it might be important to adjust volume or change the music becasue i simply cant do it reliably … and isnt that the main purpose!?!  such a farce

This reminds me of when Google destroyed Google Groups, removing key features I relied on, and called it an “upgrade”. Sheesh!

Fully agree that the latest update is a disaster. Absolutely not intuitive. Thinking of ditching the entire system if this isn’t quickly sorted.

Appalling, horrendous, disastrous… I don’t understand how this ‘update/upgrade’ could ever have been allowed to happen. This has completely changed how I look at Sonos as a company and how they treat their customers. Effectively, they simply don’t care about their customers otherwise this ‘upgrade’ would never have been released. In an already competitive industry, this has done irreparable damage to Sonos.
