This may be a daft question but after sharing my music fold, via computer/ external hard drive, with the sonos app do I still need to  keep the hard drive connected to the computer and switched on when I want to play music from my folder.  I know that I could just disconnect it to see what happens but it has taken me days and hours to figure out how to do and for it to work.  My music includes all my vinyl that I transfered on to mini discs and more recently had digitalised which sounds great when played on my 2 sonos one's  as stereo.

Yes the disc must be switched on and accessible on your network to allow your Sonos system to access it.

You should be able to switch it and your computer off when you don't want to access your music, but remember to allow time for it to load up when powering your computer and the disc back up.

Thank you Kenv.  I took the plunge and tested it.  Now I know how it worked in the first place it should be ok.  I did find it easier downloading the sonos app for windows onto my computer and doing all on the computer first.
