I can't connect and have tried everything. It's because I have a new router from virgin. But my phone effortlessly connects. I have been through the Sonos app process 20 times and it is no surprise that it doesnt connect, because it's always been unreliable. I've gone off music since having Sonos because of the anxiety I have as to whether it will work. It's like an anti Pavlov dog. Is it just me?
After replacing a router reboot everything on the network.
Thanks buzz. Not sure what you mean. Everything has been turned off and on again. TV and phones seem to be fine. Just Sonos
Did you check your new router’s settings to insure they are set to allow sonos to connect?
Once connected:

Thank you Stanley. That's getting very technical. I have a hub 4 from virgin. I would assume it is compatible. Hypothetical question: If Sonos isn't compatible with a major UK wi fi provider router then do I have a claim under the the consumer rights act 2015.? I think it is an implied term that Sonos is and must be compatible with my router. I would hope that some of the hundreds of pounds I have spent on their sub standard products should have been invested to ensure that this is the case.

Yes, power cycle will force a reboot.
In your desperation, refrain from Factory Reset of any SONOS units without further consult. Factory Reset rarely resolves fundamental issues and wastes a lot of time.
Thank you buzz. But if course I have turned it off and on again. I'm not keen to go factory resetting tho without advice.
I would be very surprised If you would have a claim against Sonos if a problem surfaces when you get a new router after you bought Sonos’ devices. And why talk about a consumer claim if you haven’t even given Sonos a chance to help you? And dismiss the help pages Sonos provides because you seem to think they’re “very technical”. You bought Linux-based multiroom speakers, a bit of tech seems unavoidable.

Why that instead of your router must be compatible with Sonos? Sonos was here long before your router.
Looking past that did you take the time to confirm the router’s settings were set to a mode that Sonos also supports?
Ha. Thank you Stanley. I do think the burden is on Sonos to be compliant with mainstream WiFi products. You have given me a list of technical information that I concede I do not understand. I hope to speak to Sonos tomorrow when their helpline opens. It doesn't takeaway ten years of shaky unreliable substandard connectivity that I wish I never invested in.
So Sonos needs to recall every product they have made since about 2005 and re-manufacture them to work with your new router?
Good luck.
From the many threads here regarding Sonos connectivity issues, Tdasc seems to have a point.
I have been struggling with Sonos connectivity ever since buying the speakers. I understand that you must be able to use a computer to install linux based multiroom speakers. I consider myself a normally capable tech person, but if tens, maybe hundreds of cumulative hours invested in reading forums, manuals, Sonos help articles, waiting in line for tech support chat, re-explaining everything, troubleshooting, tinkering with router settings, etc. does NOT ensure a guy like me reliable service from these several hundred dollar speakers, then I don’t know who they are ment for.
For me, and a whole lot of others in the forum, the user experience has been terrible. The Sonos sound system has suffered a whole host of problems that you do not expect from an expensive high end product. It shouldn’t require hours and hours of your life. It should just work. It is not a question of blaming Sonos for being incompatible with Wi-Fi standards released after the speakers. Modern routers are mostly backwards compatible, meaning they work just fine with older standards. This is evidenced by all the other devices that work just fine with the new router, as stated by the OP. I can testify to this too. You should absolutely expect your speaker to work with your new router. You do not expect having to “go through the Sonos app process 20 times” for the speaker to work, or to “check your router’s settings” every time you connect a new devise to your Wi-Fi.
For my part I have done both, without it having helped much thus far. You normally give the company a chanse to fix the issue for you, not requiring that you read and understand lengthy technical manuals to fix the issue yourself. It is fair to say OP should let Sonos know about the issue and give customer service a chance to rectify it, but from the sound of the post, this is not the first attempt. I am myself at the end of my ability both technically and with regard to available time. I don’t think a refund claim is unreasonable at all when it simply doesn’t work despite a lot of effort.
Thank you andersv20. I agree wholeheartedly. My initial post was written before the new release app. This hasn't effected me because I still can't connect. But I think it has aged the pro Sonos posts above very badly. If anyone else wants to share stories about difficult connectivity please do. These posts matter. It is not just our system

Absolutely. Felt good to vent a little. Ok, for some inexplicable reason all my speakers work fine now. I’m hesitantly happy, but never found the root cause, meaning I’m afraid it might happen again at a bad time. Idk, well see
