14.18 a master piece...

WAO...
Really what they did on 14.18 to listen to music is phenomenal!
My sonos One SL pair stereo are sounding like never before.
In this firmware I performed trueplay (iPhone 8 plus) and I have it on all the time with an excellent response in all frequency ranges and I have the loudnes turned off which improves clarity.

Bass at +2 is more than enough and the highs at +8.

My living room has 4.6 meters X 6 meters and sloping ceiling ranging from 3.5 m to 5.

Tell us about your experiences with this new firmware.

Hello, I see that you have the entire portfolio of sonos...

Have you ever paired the one's with the sub mini or with the sub gen 3... I would like to know your opinion about how the sound of the one's compares with the Mini or with the sub gen 3.

So 14.18 made (big?) changes to One SL speaker sound?

The new Sub-Mini sounds great and I have tried it paired with Sonos One-SL’s in our Kitchen/Diner - it really does greatly improve the sound of the One-SL’s. It is certainly ideal for small/medium sized rooms. I would certainly recommend it.

I also have the bigger Sub (gen3) too, but I would say only go for that Sub, if you have a large room - I use that Sub with two Fives in a 22’ x 14’ lounge area, but the sound would easily fill much larger rooms. It’s the sort of Sub that will have adjoining neighbours asking you to turn it down, if you do decide to crank up the Bass/Volume.

I think the Sub-Mini is great for its size and price… I plan to get my hands on another. I’ve put the current one in our bedroom with a Beam (gen1) and so need to fill the gap in the Kitchen/Diner, where I’ve now also added a Ray to a small TV.

So 14.18 made (big?) changes to One SL speaker sound?

I have my doubts, when it comes to standalone/stereo paired mode with no HT product in the mix.

If some one told me that my play 1 units will sound radically better after the next irreversible upgrade, I would choose to not do the upgrade because I like them just the way they are today.

I have not paired either of my Subs with the Ones, only my Sub Gen 3 with my Fives. I have heard others say that the Sub mini sounds great with a pair of Ones though

It is not only the One SL that has changed sound signature, but people do not notice it.

As long as sound comes out of the speakers and the subwoofer moves air, everyone is satisfied 😉

Now I know why a guy like Kumar is such a Sonos enthusiast and that’s a good thing.

I had lost my Wi-Fi connection, not knowing about the update, until I saw a Peter Pee(love that guy) video.

I hadn’t used the system for about two weeks,so I decided to check out the new update and got into my App….I have been a very happy owner of a pair of Play Five Gen 2’s,Sub Gen 2 and I use a Roam as a rear ambience speaker, about 4 feet behind my listening chair….Fabulous sound and I never looked back at my high end audio equip of the past!

I touch a button and I have almost everything ever recorded…..Well,I began my session,I thought….

CRICKETS….AKA: No sound at all

I spoke with two Sonos Reps, who told me to check with my Wi-Fi provider for issues to my Wi-Fi….Xfinity checked everything and said all was OK…..Here’s my issue(with a huge happy ending)…..However it’s a weakness on the part of Sonos  not always hiring truly qualified Representatives!

Not all of the Sonos Reps have the same ability to help customers!!….Two of the three Reps wanted me to run a router to one of my speakers,in another room….I’d have had to buy the length necessary and I did not want to take the speaker off of its stand and attempt to plug it in,since I don’t have enough router length and had this exact issue resolved in the beginning, when I first got everything.

I went through the “same issues” when first setting up at the time I bought the system, going through a few Sonos Reps, before getting one to solve the issue easily and no direct hook up.

I eventually found someone in Sonos who was able to get me up and running, without running a cable to the speaker.

OK,after literally 2 hours on the phone, with two different Sonos reps, both telling me,either there was something wrong with my Wi-Fi(wrong) or I needed to run a router directly to one of my Play Fives,I FINALLY got a Sonos Rep who new exactly what to do!

He was such a fine person that he stayed on the phone with me for 4 straight hours!...Name…Kraus c.

We had been disconnected and I immediately called Sonos to continue and was told by a new Rep,I had to start over!...How do you think I felt?

I gave my case number, but the new Rep wanted….Ha….me to connect the router, even though i’d mentioned I was at the finish line with the previous Sonos Rep(ARGH)….I decided I’d spent enough time and politely told her i wanted to terminate the conversation...Exhausted!

Five minutes later the Sonos Rep,who actually knew something called me back...What great character on his part!  A superb person and representative for the company…...His name was KRAUS C.

He could have left me hanging.Another 20 minutes later, after I allowed him to control my phone’s settings I had the new update and all was well…..After extensive listening to a wide variety of music,I can easily hear an improvement with the new update…..It is “not subtle”!

Realistically,it is about 15% better overall! I am certainly not one to rationalize, but here’s what i hear differently….

1-  Definitely deeper bass, with more impact.

2- Wider stereo separation.

3- Clarity has improved

Back, when I was into high end audio(really good stuff, like Audio Research,Mark Levinson,Jeff Rowland,Infinity and Avalon Speakers) these improvements would have cost me a significant amount of cash to make an equivalent improvement. Not to mention, shipping components out for a pricey update,or the hassle of selling and buying something slightly better, for more dollars.

OK,I had some hassles getting a decent and caring Rep from Sonos, but all it cost me was a few hours…..I’m thrilled!

P.S…..”Sonos” make sure “all of your representatives” are as well versed in your fine.value based products as Kraus C!

The stock will go back up.
