I’ve been a Sonos customer for over more than 4 years now.

Since last week, an error has appeared when trying to play Youtube Music songs.

From iOS: I get immediately the announcement “Can’t decode codec”

From Android: when playing an album, the first song usually plays. Starting from the second song of the album, the “can’t decode codec” error appears.

That certainly seems odd. I’d try several things, first.

  1. Reboot your router, followed by a reboot of your Sonos device.
  2. Remove YouTube as a streaming service from Sonos, wait a minute, then add it back in, to force a new handshake between your Sonos devices and the YouTube servers.
  3. If neither of those change the issue, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
