WUNC not working on Tunein or Sonos Radio

I have been using TuneIn on the S1 app for years. Today it has stopped loading WUNC. I have tried to add/use Sonos Radio but it fails there too. I also tried to remove and re-add TuneIn, but that didn’t fix it. I tried another station that did work.

What’s confusing is that I never created a TuneIn account. I assume that way back in the day, Sonos had some auto-Tunein-login agreement. I did sign up for TuneIn using GMail just now, but there’s no option to use those credentials in S1. When I re-add TuneIn, the S1 app just automatically does it without asking me for a username.

BTW WUNC does work on the TuneIn browser page using me new account.

It’s driving me crazy. Do I need to reboot something? It worked yesterday!

Does it work if you add “myTuner Radio” service and play it using that?

if not, maybe need to try if adding a custom URL in TuneIn app would work. Check out these:

If it still won’t work maybe it’s some kind of geo-restriction issue or it will work shortly again.

Wow I’m amazed we’re not the only ones listening to WUNC on Sonos on a daily basis :). I had the same issue this morning trying to listen in the bedroom via TuneIn (where it had worked ok for many years), and via Sonos Radio (which I had to switch to earlier this year).  I ended up listening to the BBC World Service on Sonos Radio. Just now I tried to listen to WUNC again in my kitchen. It wouldn’t play WUNC unless I started playing it in the bedroom group and added the kitchen to the group. Then I realised that, despite displaying that it was playing WUNC, it was actually the BBC World Service (I did verify this by playing them both outside Sonos).  After seeing the suggestion above I have actually been able to play the real WUNC again using MyTuner Radio (thank you!) BUT ONLY if I add the kitchen device into a different group that is already playing it. If I remove the other group members, it stops playing in the kitchen.  What’s going on - why can’t my kitchen Sonos device be the only one playing MyTuner Radio - WUNC?

It’s working again … not sure what happened. Possibly just a station-specific glitch? At least now I know that TuneIn stations are now available other ways. I’m still rocking the older Sonos app because my devices are ancient … first speaker was in 2011 I think.
