Having lost my NAS-based local library in the update (and no, it’s nothing to do with SMBv1 as my NAS / Windows 11 set up doesn’t use v1), I now don’t have a Windows app either. When I logged in this morning, I was forced to do an update. (V16.2 Build 79153290).

After installation, I got a message suggesting the system need to check for updates. It checked, and everything was up to date. Then I had to log in again, to be told that some of the speakers are not registered to my account - the Play 1s are at least 8 years old. I clicked “Register” and then got a message to say everything was up to date, then had to log in, check updates and so on and so on. Tried “use app anyway” option, and this goes to same loop. Resetting the app? Same loop. Reinstalling? Same loop. The nett effect is that the windows app is now useless as well. In addition, the webapp doesn’t now show my local library at all (although it did until yesterday), only streaming services I neither have nor want.

One comfort is that my Roam works perfectly well as a somewhat over-specified and expensive standalone bluetooth speaker … presumably until Sonos manages to do something to trash that.

Roam 2? Ace Headphones? Seriously? After all this?

There are no words to describe how bad this experience has been ...

Have you tried the new web app?  I don’t know if it will solve your issue but may be worth checking out: https://play.sonos.com/en-us/web-app

Thank you for the suggestion, but the web app also doesn’t show my local library, and won’t allow me to add it (although it does show three of my five speakers). At least it opens for now which is a small mercy for which we should be grateful ...

Further update. Tried the web app one more time. Tried Sonos Radio, as I can’t play my own music. Took around a minute to load, played for 10 seconds, then stopped with a “something went wrong” message. The “something” that went wrong was giving Sonos £100s to buy 6 speakers which are now essentially useless as I don’t subscribe to streaming services (apart from BBC Sounds) and all I want to do is play the 4TB of music I’ve collected over more than 50 years and which is stored on an NAS (using SMB 3.1.1 before any smart person jumps in). Bear in mind that, until early May, all of this worked more or less seamlessly despite 4 house moves, 3 new NAS boxes and heaven only knows how many phones, iPads, laptops and desktops …
