Totally agree with the statements above. Sonos WTF!! When using Mixcloud as a music service, it simply does not show playlist contents, or list of followers. It’s just empty!

What about implementing some system en function testing Sonos??? before releasing this crap.

Lucky they did not change the desktop app yet, so I can still somewhat use my Sonos from my laptop…

Man what a failure this release.

Shocking.  The latest update has rendered a houseful of speaker completely useless.  I tell everyone I know not to buy anything from this company.  The app itself - which used to at least make some sense - has been redesigned in a way that makes everything harder: searching, volume control, reaching playlists, ALL of it.  But that’s irrelevant… Because it can’t connect with the system, so I can’t play music anyway.  And god help me if I do successfully start a song, I’d better commit…  Because I won’t be able to turn the music off!

I`m in exactly the same position. The update is appalling. I shall not be buying Sonos again, ever!!!

Maybe time for the open source community to develop a Sonos app that is actually working.. ??

Maybe it’s something local? Only the new App seems to be working okay here? Maybe give Sonos Support a call and see what they say about your own setup? Nothing ventured and all that…

Already did for my mixcloud problem, not sure if they could reproduce since they only have a mixcloud test account with no followers or playlists…. Really..

I can’t really comment, I only use a free mix-cloud account and even then don’t use it that much so I probably can’t assist you here either (sorry).

They won’t see the issue with the app with an account with no followers or playlists 🤦‍♀️

But there’s been quite a few threads about this so I’m sure they know. Whether it actually gets fixed timely …. Who knows

I agree its absolute crap. Often the app is minutes behind whats actually playing, takes ages to connect or recognise system components. the volume control seems to be ignored. when you shuttle your tracks in Amazon it always starts at the same track, it does not shuttle. I wish Amazon would write an app to connect to Sonos products. Their hardware is great but their software just poor, poor, poor and poor. I created and ran an IT company for 16 yrs and was for 18 yrs the head honcho for GP computing in the NHS. I recognise crappy interfaces when I see one.

So I’ve just submitted this to them “hasn't addressed any of the more irritating issues, you're gilding the lily but its not a lily, its a rotting weed.”

I cannot wait for some of Sonos' patents to end so others can compete in the market. I will be the first to jump ship. I'll burn the speakers as it would be unethical to sell this garbage to another poor soul.

Admitting the app is a giant turd, even if polished is a big step for you.

Or 16.1 on Android. Using something other than the new app may make your system usable again

Once again you have misread the post and put your own slant on things that simply aren’t there. You do that a lot, I notice. Perhaps lookup ‘diagnosing misconceptions’ online and see if it may provide you with some answers to your issue.

Oooh, a bite… !! - the App is just a speaker controller.  Calm down, I don’t think I’m the one who needs to lighten up around here @Bumper, particularly as it works if everything is setup correctly on a stable network subnet.

I agree, Ive come on here to say, please can the app be solved. I love my sonos speaker - Used to work amazingly.

You keep updating the app and it becomes worse and worse and worse. Basic requirements are not met. Like choosing music easily and playing it. There is a delay, its clunky, the integration with spotify is not smooth.

Very Frustrating. ;(

Didn’t imagine that Sonos is able to make it even worse.

Instead of tackling all the bugs in the new - so called - ‘app’, it is now crashing down immediately on a brand new Android phone.

I’ll never buy any Sonos product (of which I’ve got 9) again.

There’s an issue with some Android phones at the moment, following the firmware update this week, but there is an app update on Monday so you never know your luck…

Hi @Christof Specker, here’s a ‘splainer on the latest snafu causing the Android app to crash …

Sonos has a problem whether or not they acknowledge and accept it or not - unfortunately.

The “most” basic functionality either doesn’t exist or is not longer available in their newest version of their app. How is that possible? Looking for ways to play music saved on my pc. Can see it (now unable to search using that source) but it will not Play Now, Play Next, etc.

Just astounding. I could see this killing the company if they do little or nothing.

Anyone with alternative Controller/Player suggestions would love to hear about them. (only one I’ve see here is iPhone/Pad option called SonoPhone/SonoPad)
