Why is Sonos preventing downgrades to S1?

I want to downgrade my Sonos system to S1: it simply works better than the ‘improved’ S2 and has features I regularly use that are still absent from S2.

All of my devices except an Era 300 are S1 compatible.

I started with my Move (v1), performed a factory reset, and tried to use the S1 iOS app (v11.14) to add the Move to an existing S1 system … and get taken to this Sonos web page.

Why, Sonos? Just Why?

Anyone know any workarounds?
