What if you dont use/enjoy streaming services?

Bluntly speaking, the Sonos app update is making me consider leaving Sonos. I have heavily invested in my sound system but I can tell that the cultural move towards streaming services and not owning your music is phasing people like me out. I do not like Spotify or Apple Music or any of those services and hence why the new app format is useless for my needs and in fact makes it annoying to access my personal music collection. I understand that this is a toothless attempt at fighting piracy and owning physical media in favor of forever renting music media, but it should be noted that the new app is terrible for those of us who just want to stream our own collection via WiFi. What do you guys propose I do in order to get the best experience from using the Sonos app? I really don’t want to abandon Sonos but the app’s overall update direction is increasingly making it feel inevitable.

The “most tolerable” workaround for now is probably this, if you can run Plex media server on your NAS or network. It still relies on remote servers for browsing, but at least the music streaming is local.

You are absolutely correct @Pueblothunder.

However, I could just about live with that as I know I am in an ever-decreasing pool of uses relying on their on own library (I have my own web-based app designed to use sonos how I want to interact with it ).

But the fact that it is missing a massive amount of functionality makes it completely unusable.

It’s an absolute shambles of a release.

I haven’t heard anyone say anything positive about it yet.

SonoPhone / SonoPad apps (iOS) or rollback the Android app.  That’s the easiest thing to do. Or look into Plex - but if those apps suit you, you don’t need Plex.
