The Sonos S2 app is repeatedly crashing on iOS 17.6.1

it opens then closes. I tried going through the Sonos S1 app, but same results.  S1 does not crash, but will not access Sonos S2 through S1. It sends me back to Sonos latest updated app, which then crashes.
if I go to speaker, it plays last album I was playing before this Sonos update mishigoss.

while I’m complaining & explaining, I would appreciate it if  the Sonos app was visible on locked home screen so I can see what’s playing without having to login to iPhone to see track.

Hmm…app is not crashing on my iPhone 15 ProMax which BTW l’m using to play music to my Move2 in stereo pair on WiFi as I type this response on same device.

Regarding app not being visible on Lock Screen at one time it was via a Sonos hack. Sonos got their hands slapped by Apple for doing so and a result Sonos does not appear on Lock Screen. So blame Apple for that 😂

Tyty! I’m keeping 🤞🏼I’m not alone.  Btw, same phone. Again, Ty.

Also getting Sonos crash today after last night’s iOS 17.6.1 update.

That’s not an answer to the post 🤔🤔🤔

I simply dont understand why they change something that worked and gave me something that doesnt work. Cannot connect to spotify, cannot connect to my local music library, loses history. This is the worst update ever from a company

Sonos is not working after I updated my iPhone 15 Pro Max to the new iOS 17.6.1 yesterday. Will not play any music - whether from Sonos Radio, Apple, Amazon, Tune In - - nothing.  Completely stopped everything. No idea what to do.  PLEASE FIX THIS SONOS! Something is wrong!

To All

Try deleting the Sonos app and reinstalling it.

Are the settings for Sonos on the phone allowing access to the Local Network?  Settings - scroll down to Sonos - in Sonos is the Local Network switch ON.

My phone is also a 15 and I have the same IOS.  I don’t know why that Local Network switch would be turned off as part of an IOS update, but worth checking.

Deleting and reinstalling the app fixed the issue. The setup sequence asks to join the local network (yes). It also asks to join an existing system (yes). All speakers connected automatically, and I didn’t have to do anything more than that to fix the problem. 2 minute fix.

 Always something!

I deleted and reinstalled the app and it DID NOT fix the issue. My account reinstalled without any trouble but Sonos still won’t let me play anything from Amazon Music, Tune In, Spotify or Apple Music. It recognizes all of those Music services and my account with them but it won’t let me play anything from them and gives a message:  “No content items available.”  Not surprisingly, the only thing Sonos will let me play is Sonos Radio with commercials. WHAT IS GOING ON, Sonos??????

Unfortunately, the app doesn’t stay open. It opens then closes just as fast. That’s the problem. No way to change anything.

The setting to check is in the phone settings not in the Sonos app.  In the phone settings see if Local Network is ON.  It should always be on by default, but you never know.

Sorry, didn’t understand. Yes the settings are as they had always been.  Nothing has changed in that regard. Ty for trying to move this forward.

SOLUTION FOUND!!!    After trying over a dozen different possible fixes, I decided to remove Apple Music from my Sonos. Problem still was not fixed. So I decided to re-set up my Sonos Play 1 in the Living room (I also have a Sonos Move in Bedroom & Roam in Office but did not re-set up those). After easily re-setting up the Play 1 - boom! All music was now accessible - - Amazon Music, Spotify, Tune In, Sonos Radio - all of it. Makes no sense at all but given that this all started with the new iOS 17.6.1 update on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I can only surmise that there is still major issues going on between Sonos & Apple Music that extend past what we have been told. Something in the compatibility between the two is corrupting entire Sonos system setups. I’m not installing my Apple Music back, I’ll be fine without it on my Sonos platform. But Sonos really needs to be up front with us and let us know what they know about this because I’ve spent a tremendous amount of time sorting this out and I surely don’t want others having to go through what i just did.  Just be honest, Sonos - we can take it.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and potential fixes. Glad I found this solution and hope it helps anyone else that may end up going through the same thing.

I’m having the app crashing issue as well. Reinstalling works for a time. I’ve had to do this 3 times now since the latest update. Running latest iOS (not beta) iPhone 14 Pro.

Not the end of the world but come on four months later this crap shouldn’t be happening in a non beta app.

I only need the app for grouping and speech and night mode toggle so not asking much and this POS can’t even do that. Without a doubt the worst, buggiest POS app I’ve ever used.

Hi, normally I don’t post on forums. I just wanted to say that this app is so completely broken.

I have the exact same issue as the people posted above (probably there are more like us). App crashes immediately after i start it (latest iOS and iPhone 13 Pro).

My system is 2x one sl + beam gen 2 + sub mini. Come on Sonos, fix your s***t, this is getting ridiculous.

Same problem here. I arrived at the office today, where we have Sonos in every room, and several colleagues had issues with the app crashing. After reinstalling it, it works again.

Sonos, please fix your stuff. I brought Sonos to the office, but it's now become the office joke. The bad app (and the S2 debacle) is really sticking to the name Sonos, and not in a good way

Does the Sonos team ever read these posts?

Before this updated app, I was planning on purchasing a second Sonos speaker system. With no help from Sonos, I may just get rid of what I already have.

I personally been a loyal customer of Sonos for years, we have like 10 speakers at home, thousands of dollars spent for this crap for it not work suddenly!!!!! Seriously so many issues over the past months, they should fired the CEO or least have the dignity to resign, since you are clearly not capable of running a successful company!!!!! How can you let this happen?????  I’m going to give all this turds away for free and move to another company!!!

Staff do respond here periodically for better or worse. Usually when summoned. But they aren’t staffed at a level where they respond to every post or question.

I have repeatedly deleted and reinstalled the Sonos app since this issue started. Each time I reinstall, it works for about 1-2 uses, then crashes again and won’t reopen at all until I delete and reinstall the app, again. I appreciate the suggestion but this doesn’t really make the app usable if the experience is that I need to delete, reinstall, and log back in almost every time I want to listen to music.

Think I have deleted and reinstalled the app around 15 times in the last couple months because of this.
Haven’t had any issues to speak of until this “upgrade”.

Now, I can’t rename one of my speakers. Sometimes can’t rename it at all but all the other times it switches to the old name a few hours later.
Music randomly stops, music cuts in and out, and this app crashing.
Losing patience for sure.  Anyone else in the same boat?

I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, if and when you can, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

I confirm. I keep having the same issues with the app. It alternates between my iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPad Pro M4. When I reinstall it on one device and it works, after a few days the crash appears on the other one. And so on, in a loop. It’s frustrating that this hasn’t been fixed for such a long time. This is not some minor issue to just ignore its functionality.
