Question

Sonos skipping songs automatically when playing Spotify?

This morning, I went to play a podcast on my Sonos One via the Spotify app and upon connecting, it immediately began skipping to each podcast in my “My Podcasts” playlist, without playing any of them.

I switched to my Sonos Arc via the same process and did not have this problem. I played that podcast successfully, without any lag or loading time, Meaning this is likely a device issue, not a network issue.

I have tried unplugging and plugging back in my Sonos One, restarting my router, deleting the Spotify integration and reinstalling it, and deleting and reinstalling the Sonos app.

Anyone else having this issue? How do I fix this?

Hi @aud1oph1le

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues playing Spotify on your Sonos One. On the contrary, it still could be a network issue (or interference issue) even if you’re only noticing the issue on one device. If the Sonos One is too far away, connected to a different access point or extender, or near other networking equipment, then these could also cause the issue you’re experiencing.

Audio interruptions, such as; intermittent audio, skipping tracks, and no audio when playing can all be symptoms of interference. I’d recommend checking our support article on wireless interference to make sure no other devices near the Sonos One are causing the issue.

You could also relocate the Sonos One temporarily to see if this helps, as well as wiring it to your router via an Ethernet cable.

If you’re still having issues after following the above, and since you’ve done the other steps I would have suggested, then I’d recommend getting in touch with our support team for further assistance.

I hope this helps!

Sorry this is affecting me to, and it’s not interference as streaming to Sonos via AirPlay from the Spotify app works fine. The music constantly stops about 1 minute 30 seconds through. There’s also reports on Reddit of a similar issue. Doesn’t matter if in the Sonos app or Spotify Connect.

When are you going to fix the software so this stuff stops happening. Sonos in the past 9 months has gone from being the greatest joy in my life to a source of constant anger and frustration. Constantly skipping songs. Constantly failing to recognize my Sonos devices intermittently. Constantly failing to connect altogether. Constantly cutting in and out. You guys have RUINED the experience of using your products.

Hear hear. The software is garbage. Very frustrating.

I also suffer from Spotify skipping and dropping songs. I tried connecting my system to the Guest network of my WiFi - hair tearing experience with the setup process in the app. I followed the prompts and instructions and the system would not stay connected to the new WiFi channel. Extremely frustrating.

SONOS units must be able to communicate with each other and the controlling phone/pad/computer. ‘Guest WiFi’ is designed to block this communication.

No sure who keeps marking Jamie’s answer as the “Best Answer” but unfortunately it did not solve my problem.

I have unmarked it. Lets keep it that way until we find something that resolves this issue, so we don’t get the hopes up for others on this forum who also have the issue.

Same issue. Completely agree with comment above that Sonos used to make me happy but now just creates frustration. Songs skipping, connection issues, volume normalization. I just bought a JBL PartyBox to not have to deal with these issues during parties (somehow Sonos knows).

I own the sonos system with over 10 speakers since a decade . It even gets worse over time, so that atm it is not usable at all! I added devices year over year. I’m very disappointed that you can’t fix the Software and make it work.
