SONOS Port "Line-out" controls/options not showing in app?

Dear SONOS community,

I am trying (and failing) to configure a SONOS Port so that the volume can be controlled by the volume dial (and NOT the SONOS app) of a Yamaha R-N600A receiver.

The PORT is connected to one of the R-N600’s LINE OUT connections with a pair of RCA cables connected to the PORT’s IN RCA connections.

So far this all works, I can use the LP, CD or radio to stream via the Port to the group of connected speakers (Beam, 300’s and sub mini) and it plays just fine.

However,

For ease and simplicity I want control of the volume through the R-N600 only and not though the SONOS app, every piece of literature I have read says that this is accomplished through the app by:

Line-Out levels; Settings>System> select the room with your Port > Select Line-Out levels. (and then the required adjustments).

All very straight forward - however - there is NO “Line-Out Levels” option in the app.

App version is (iOS) version 80.00.08
All attached SONOS devices are running the latest software updates.

SO, My question (of growing frustration and desperation) is;

Is there something I am missing/doing wrong?
Is the Line-Out option missing in the much maligned app?

Your assistance and guidance will be much appreciated!

If it helps, the Line-Out settings are available on the Android version 80.01.08 of the app - I have an older Amazon Kindle Fire that I keep around and was able to load the Sonos app and configure the line-out settings…

The same is happening to me. So it is on the old app, but not on the new one. Where is it?

Hello app developers.  Here’s what I hope is a helpful suggestion.  Make a list of the features/capabilities of the app you are planning to replace.  Develop the new app and include each existing feature as you progress through development.  This should help to avoid this type of issue in the future.  Best wishes.

Hi,

Thank you for taking time to reply and for the information.

I have tried an android phone with the “line out” options available (YAY!)

However, when setting the line out to “fixed” (and being shown as “fixed” in the app) I am unable to control the volume from the Yamaha receiver (I have tried all three settings and none of them permit the volume to be controlled from the receiver).

Have you had any success in setting the volume controls so that they can be controlled by the volume dial on a receiver?

Kind regards

Andrew.
