Wife and I both have Sonos2 app on iPhones. She starts up app and plays music on system.

I start my app after session is going and it won’t sync to what’s being played. I can’t control speakers, pause music, etc. I can change names of speakers and update software for them, etc. Just can’t get to what’s playing now.

Maybe try a reset of your Sonos App as mentioned here…

On re-opening the App, accept T&C’s and provide App access to the LAN etc and connect it back to the existing Sonos system. If that doesn’t solve it, then check for other running security software on the phone, such as VPN client, firewall, MAC Spoofing (Private Address), WiFi calling etc. and see if disabling those things assist to resolve the issue. Also ensure the speaker(s) and mobile devices are connecting to the same WiFi access point and not using a WiFi extender, or EOP powerline device.
