For a long time , I have been waiting for Sonos to release a remote control for their products. Not one on a smart device. I do not always want to look for my phone , unlock my phone, find the app and look through a music service to play music. Is there any word on the development of a physical remote with basic commands and music presets on it? I know of one new company that is currently making connected amplifiers that does this and they are doing well. Any idea if Sonos would consider something so simple yet useable?
They used to have one but it was made obsolete by phones.
It will never come back. Sorry.
Just to clarify, Im not speaking of a remote control that has a touch screen and has to be charged daily. Im talking about a remote control that might take a couple of triple A batteries with fiscal buttons. Much like the company WIIM offers.
Extremely unlikely to happen. As

If you can live with 2 fewer preset/favorite buttons than WiiM, the IKEA Symfonisk remote for Sonos sounds like what you are looking for.
I like where you are going , but the idea of another hub added to the router evokes a visceral response of..here we go again..Another piece of equipment to problem solve. In the world of low power bluetooth and matter my guess is that the new amplifier from Sonos will have one…It’s a shame it has taken this long for them to realize that not everyone wants a phone to control everything in their life…We can have both..features of the app and physical buttons on a remote control..They can live in harmony I promise. We have a hellicopter on Mars…
If you are a DIY, you could fashion a remote starting with a Raspberry Pi.
Early in the life of SONOS there was an avalanche of complaints that you had to purchase a SONOS controller and could not use a phone/pad. The feeling was that the phone/pad controller could be “free” because the phone/pad was already on hand.
