Sonos App Navigation improvement

The new app would be greatly improved if the “View System” button actually looked like a button. Common feed back from my sonos clients is that it was not obvious that this is where you can zone your system.

Honestly it took me weeks to realise this myself. So much of my frustration in using this new version of app was the perceived  difficulty zoning systems. Please make this obvious - it just looks like text - especially when it is right next to the system name which does nothing .

I’m so suprised that this has not been done or pointed out already as my clients always pose this question to me - especially people familiar with any of the other sonos versions

In fact would it not be better to actually change “View System” to “Zones” ?

Duplicate thread here:

Also, for what it’s worth (nothing, as near as I can tell), Sonos has always used the term ‘room’ rather than ‘zone’.

Sure - “Room” works for me too -

maybe less in a commercial space as you might have different zones within a room

just not “view system “ and not making the button obvious is the problem.

I’m sure the moderators will pass your suggestion on.

Sonos has only recently moved into commercial spaces with their software, it may be a valuable change.

Although I’ll admit to having three Sonos ‘rooms’ in one space. Zones or rooms doesn’t really make a difference to me, as long as I understand the usage, and what it means in Sonos’ software.

The term “Zones” was used originally, eg in the CR100, after all the product name was the ZonePlayer in those days.

The API names still use Zones.

“Rooms” is confusing, “Groups” would have been a better choice IMHO.

Yes it was originally Zones… as in the ZP100 (zone player), then the ZP80 which became the ZP90

@controlav What would “grouping” be named if “rooms” were renamed to “zones”?

I think that the interface designers are trying to make the SONOS universe seem as simple as possible (in the designers opinion). “Zone” probably seems more complicated than “Room”.
