Archaic and very common here.
Probably because it works a good bit of the time and if it is the issue trying other fixes first is just adding to the frustration.
Do note that in many cases the need to power-cycle/reboot can be removed or greatly reduced by setting static/reserved IP addresses for all Sonos.
