With the latest update, we now have the ability to adjust surround speaker distance regardless of whether Trueplay is enabled or not. Why is this? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of using Trueplay?

It has always been this way. Until the last several weeks, that is.

Not everyone has access to an iOS device to do a TruePlay session.

Not sure how this relates to my question. I’m specifically asking about the latest iOS update.

Didn’t the previous app disable the Surround Distance setting anytime you had Trueplay enabled?

Yup, that’s how it was on build 16 and earlier. Talking specifically iOS, that’s why I’m not sure why he brought the android side of things to the convo. post is about build 80.02.04, not .05 (which is android).

My guess is this is a defect in the UI and doesn’t actually change the distance when Truplay is enabled because I can’t tell the difference when changing this setting unless I disable Truplay.  Can someone else test this to see if they perceive a difference in sound of the rears when Truplay is enabled?  For example, change one rear to close and the other to far.

I tend to agree. I did the same experiment and I couldn’t tell the difference.

I noticed this setting when I updated 2 days ago.  It was set to “over 10 feet”.  I adjusted the setting to 2-10 , and just retuned trueplay.  When I checked the settings, it reset to over 10 feet after I retuned.   I adjusted the settings back to 2-10 feet, but now am wondering if that messes up true play.

Have you noticed a change in sound? This might be a bug.

I did notice that they sounded a bit more quieter after retuning.  Hopefully Peter Pee puts out a review video soon on this update.
