Please could someone advise on the below?

We have Sonos speakers mounted in the reception of an office building and are currently using Spotify to stream the music from the PC. I was hoping there would be a way to save entire playlists from Spotify onto the Sonos controller itself, so that they live on the PC Controller and Spotify is no longer required. Is this something that’s possible? Or is it the case that an active Spotify account needs to be linked to Sonos in order to play music?

The Sonos controller is only a remote to the system. The system stores data like playlists. So it is possible to store playlists, but you would be storing them on the system.

There's two ways to store playlists on Sonos:

  • Sonos will receive Spotify playlists from Spotify; and
  • you can make Sonos playlists containing Spotify music.

All these possibilities need access to a Spotify service though, because playlists do not contain music but only links to where the system can find songs on Spotify's servers.
