After being a huge huge Sonos supporter for over a decade, I am now so afraid of updates.

I finally got the system working in one of my homes. But when I came to the cottage and it asked to check for updates, I just shut down the app for fear that anything I do will affect my system when I go home. 
 

Lost all my confidence in SONOs to watch out for my music enjoyment.

If you already have the App version that introduced the issues, I strongly suggest that you upgrade your App to get the fixes.  If your system has never been updated to the problem version, then not updating is an option.
