S1 and S2 set-up Problems

I have six first generation and two 2nd generation  speaker on a single network, I have just purchased a sonos device which is not compatible with the S1 controller. I have created a second account but when I try and log-in to set the device up I keep getting same screen telling me Sonos found on xxx network which include products not compatible with S2 controller and you have two options

1. Open S1 to control or update the system

2. Set-up a new system with the S2 app

I seem to be stuck in a loop and can't get passed this screen.

Crude, but try merely unplugging all S1 devices until you’ve set up the S2 device. Once it’s set up, plug them back in, and the two controllers should easily talk to their respective systems.

Thanks Airgetlam, some of my S1 devices are hard wired which makes it very hard to power off.

Add a manual remote power switch the next time you have to power them off and next time will be less aggravation. Amazon, and others, have a nice selection from cheap to fancy, pick the one that you need for the space it will be in.

Remember “first generation” and “second generation” devices are not equal to “S1 only” or “both S1 and S2 capable” devices. The One (Gen 1) for example is both S1 and S2 capable.

I’ve never heard of a ‘hard wired to power’ Sonos device. And even if I were to remove a plug, and hard wire the power, I could flip a circuit breaker. And since this is a one time thing, just in order to do the initial setup, it doesn’t seem that difficult. If I had to do it repeatedly, I could see there could be some issues.
