Removing product from S2 with factory reset

I have two S1-compatible speakers in my home office. They are currently part of my S2-system. Downgrading products from S2 to S1 is currently not supported through the app, but does anyone have experience in doing a hard factory reset and adding the speakers in S1 as if it were new products?

And maybe as a separate question: is it possible to remove components from your system in the new S2-app? I can't find that option.
