I am definitely not very technically proficient, so please bear with me. I have been a Sonos customer since 2010 and have had a very large music collection on a NAS (which has changed brand over time) all the time. Now I have a WD My Cloud, which is over 10 years old. With the advent of the new app, access to my own music disappeared overnight, as you know, and I am left with Spotify. Terrible.

My question is whether I might as well buy a new NAS…? I have read that SMB1 is not supported by the new app – and in my NAS settings, I can't choose between SMB variants, which leads me to conclude that it must be equipped with SMB1 - or is this pure nonsense… can I establish it somehow? So, while Sonos gets around to re-establishing the connection to local music collections in their app, should I just bite the bullet and buy a new NAS? (which today presumably always has SMB2 and 3 built-in?) - or is it a waste of money?

PS: I have found that I can still listen to my NAS music via the third-party app SonoPad, but I would like to use just one app 😊

No.

i have a wd mycloud. It works

had to use a pc/ sonos app to go find it and its back on and its worked fine for a few weeks

If you are accessing your Sonos music library through Sonopad it sounds like your library is still properly configured with Sonos and maybe it’s just not displaying or you can’t find it in the new app.

In the Sonos app, you should find your music library by scrolling down the main page in the app and look for the sources heading. In my controller sometimes the music library option doesn’t show and I have to force quite the app, sometimes more than once.

You should be able to access the smb settings and verify if it’s smb2/3 in your mycloud web interface by going: Settings > Network > Windows Services (depending on which version OS your device is running it might be in a different spot)

Ok, thanks. Thought it did not work with the new app. When searching it is no longer there for me … do you see your library in the search results??

So i could not get it to work with ios app

have an old windows desktop in my office and was able to re enter the path to my files.  It had disappeared after the initial update.

after that it shows up on my ios app too

playlists random play songs albums etc

dont love the new look but mine seems to work completely.  Even voice control of my roam

No, to search results so far

still a bug there

Like you, all my music in saved on a My Cloud Home, and my Sonos system is still recognising my music library from this OK. But they have removed the ability to search or even fast-scroll in “my library” …. arrgggghhh - apparently this is in line to be added to the app sometime in June (I read this in another chat about problems with the new app). However on the app it shows MyCloud as one of my services (and therefore searchable), but it will not connect to it. Aaaargggh again.

… this new app is a real mess.

I just realised the NAS is visible in the web app (no search) but not in the ‘surreal’ app…. Hmmm

I spoke to a customer service person yesterday. They said that Sonos stopped recognising MyCloud as an affiliated service late last year. I understand that this means you can still use it as the source of “My Library” (I.e. your own music files), but it is not recognised as one of “Your Services”. However - confusingly - it is still appearing in Your Services, but doesn’t link to anything except an error message.

Hello

Same issue here but with a TimeCapsule NAS. So it does not come from the NAS apparently. I tried using a Synology NAS and… it works.

I read somewhere that it does not support SMB V1 anymore. That might be it.

Anyways, I could not configure it from the phone, I had to do a new share on another NAS that support SMB V2. And then, set that share up with the windows App as the phone app couldn’t do it….

And now it works… And I have a useless nas…

edit : I realized that I lost all my thumbnails for some reason…

edit 2 : Nevermind… I still have my thumbnails… But only on the Windows app… And yet another issue with that app update...

Finally got my NAS music back on the new app. Removed the path on ‘Sonos desktop’ (Windows), re-entered the path… and now it is visible as a source. Not connected to search of course but better than nothing.
