The new Sonas app is awful. It typically will not connect to music even when the music is playing, hence I cannot switch the music of,
but worst problem is trying to control the volumes of the various sonas speakers. Even when I adjust the volume in the app it mysteriously changes itself back to the other setting.
trying to adjust volumes is almost impossible and VERY VERY frustrating.
fthis app should not have been released in such a dismal and poor state. It really damages Sonas reputation and brand.
when will these problems be fixed..?
Having ALL of these issues - the volume one is driving me nuts! It also takes 4/5 attempts to connect. Wish I could revert to the old app. Very frustrating when I have 5 speakers so have spent significantly on my Sonos system. How do we complain?!
I’ve just noticed Sonos message on the web about the app.
Seems that they are working on it. I hope they will learn from this c*** up and test the app before releasing any future updates.

I hope so too but the message has been there 10 day and no progress. The new app is sooo far off the mark that they could at least allow customers to use the old one until they have something better. Many people have suggested this with no response. Indeed complete radio silence except for trying to sell new speaker. I wonder if everyone except the sales team had gone on holiday.

It is an old message from Sonos, I didn’t realise were in June already! It is quite poor, think we all here agree. I feel sorry for Sonos and their reputation in their industry and equally wish I could punch them in the soft places and demand my money back for the speakers.
I only have three Sonos units, one of them stopped being recognisable since the update. Can’t imagine how infuriating it must be for those with large sound system or that need sound for their work.
Hi all,
Sadly I have seeked this forum as I cannot use my Sonos effectively anymore..
i have 4 speakers and eager to add some new designs.. that maybe that a was eager now… their market leading edge is under question..,
however I agree with all the comments here, the difference with the last app is night and day..,
before I breezed through the app, managed different rooms, combined, separated, super responsive and effortless,
now I can’t even change rooms to search for different music upstairs without transferring the music downstairs to the one upstairs, I can’t work it out,
once I put music on in one room on my phone , have to use Alexa to get music on the other one… embarrassing.., trying to Combine speakers is borderline pointless… keeps rejecting the request..,
volume can be a huge delay and i hate this app, which is a million miles away from how I felt just a few weeks ago…
Sonos was famed for its ease of use and app.. maybe not for much longer…
This is very bad news for Sonos
how can you put something out that isn’t working.
I have had clients calling all weekend with issues.
If it is this bad let us go back to the old app
till you fix this one.
Music constantly cutting in and out.
no controls of volume every time you change it, it resets itself.
If you try a different music station it shuts off
has a delay like the app is trying to catch up.
agree with all
happily Android lets you revert
maybe the adults in the room (or shareholders?) will step in and fix things
otherwise doesn’t bode well for Sonos

How do you manage to revert? I've tried several times and my app keeps up dating to the new one despite unticking the auto update box.
after you’ve deleted the “update” and installed the good (v.16.2) version, go to the app and turn off updates. some folks say you have to do this also in the playstore, but I couldn’t find the way to do that; but my revert has remained now for about a week, so I think the disabling updates in the app itself was sufficient.
First had a few issues with the app but now I’m down to only one issue, no album art for Sirius. I don’t have a local library so never had that issue but I do understand your frustration. What’s weird is everyone is not having the same issues… I agree that the app should not have been released in this state. Obviously it had to do with the headphones. Anyway, hang in there as I’m sure most bugs should be ironed out in the short term.

I am disappointed at the functionality reversal of the latest and not greatest controller update. The volume control is at best optional and often unresponsive. Managing my system through an Apple IPad is painful. When I was responsible for major SW updates in the financial sector, we didn’t release anything until a beta test group had reviewed and provided comment. This software release best practice seems to have not been followed by the Sonos development team. As my Sonos system is coming to end of life, I will be researching other vendors………..
Bestbuy has the Move 2 on sale. Almost bought it to add to my pair of Move 1s until I started messing with the new app. What happened to the app? Actuallly impressed some people when they arrived and they were asking about my speakers. The new app made me look like an amateur trying to get it to work. Ruined my party this weekend from all the interruptions. Shame on you Sonos for releasing such garbage. I assumed it was me doing something wrong until reading everyone else’s same experience.
Can I please have my money back? The new app renders my system totally unusable and therefore unfit for purpose.
I have seven Sonos products - so let’s call it £3,100 - which is more than fair. Please contact me here and I will send you my bank details.
I’m in full agreement with the comments on the app update. It has so many glitches it should not have been released. If the company could acknowledge the problem and advise on the timeline for an update it would be appreciated.
I noticed on twitter the CEO is promoting the app?

To fetch the old version, I had to go on apkmirror. There are other site where you can get his. Full of popups unfortunately, but it works.
Then in the store, select the app, then the hree dots and untick “enable auto update”
I have used the new app and the windows app to add, update and register new speaker, none of the application alone, would allow me to go through the full process of adding a speaker...
Now I use the old Android app to play and manage my music.
It works…. well if we want to call that working.
There has been an update of the app for iPhone.
move tried it and it still doesn’t play my favourite radio stations. The volume seems to work though.
Check the update yourselves good peeps. It can’t be any worse than it is.
I’ve learnt about the update from the article. It actually made me think Sonos is really twisting the truth with their nonchalant attitude… incompetent ignorants come in mind.

We all bought Sonos to listen to OUR music. Which in essence we can no longer do. We even struggle to listen to the music that Sonos want us to listen to. Would you, if you were looking at a system, consider Sonos now? I regret recommending to family and friends to ‘invest’ in Sonos……

You know what, I did have this thought that Sonos is going to play only their music and radio. I’ve shrugged this horrible suspicion off in naive hope that we can still enjoy freedom of choice! Oh I hope that’s not the case.
I’m sure your family will forgive you. Eventually ;)
Dear Sonos CEO,
I sincerely hope you read the customer feedback and do not become another “Boeing”.
Reading many of the comments, as I have the same problems, I am gobsmacked, why and how come you even release such products. Do you have a process for validation prior to releases ?
I do not want to add any fuel to the fire, but you kill everything you stood for.
Don’t stay silent, get loud and communicate with those who are loyal to the company. Change the company before its too late.
My Saturday ruined, Sonos surround system is totally fall apart. Yes Dear CEO fix it or sooner move for a better sound system brand. By the way if that happen I wouldn't recommend family and friends about Sonos for sure.

It's hard to fathom how bad this app is. Nothing works as it should, my speaker is found for about 5 mins per hour, content isnt loaded, etc etc etc
If you tried to make it this bad I think you would struggle. Feel held to ransom by Sonos, its not a pleasant feeling. So poor.
What are Sonos doing about this…completely ruined a perfectly good system
I have 4 x Symfonisk SONOS speakers and they cannot be connected at the same time no matter what, and also the connections keep dropping off. Simply rubbish products and rubbish app. So regretted I spent so much money on these. Now they’re sitting there on the shelf doing nothing but a waste of my space.
I have read the comments and see that there are multiple problems with the app. In my case , I can’t even access Spotify or Apple Music . When I try to open these services through the app, I get the message “Something went wrong. Try again”. I have tried everything with no success. Is anyone else getting this message?
I am totally disappointed with Sonos. I have guests today and won’t be able to play any music at home.
Yes. You are not alone, sorry about your guests. This is an awful update that you had no choice to accept. And now live the consequences? I will never trust Sonos again and will never spend any money with them going forward.
