operating sonos from more than one mobile device

My wife and I both have Apple phones. We can’t seem to both be logged into the Sonos app to control the system— I was logged in, but she wasn’t, and when she logged in and connected to the system, then I couldn’t get in anymore. We’re both logged in through the same email and password. Is this a common problem? Is there a solution?

Hi @BillBrennanGR, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear you’re having issues getting both your and your wife’s controller connected to the system. We do have a limit on controllers to a system, which is: up to 32 controllers controlling one player, OR one controller for up to 32 players. As the player count goes up, the controller count goes down.

Looking at your system however, I don’t think this is the case. What I would suggest would be to reset the app on the phone that isn’t working by opening the Sonos App and going to Account → App Preferences → Reset App. Once you’ve done this, close and open the app then choose the option to join an existing system and try to log in again.

I hope this helps!

This is new to me and I suspect to many longtime users. I was under the impression that 32 controllers and 32 players were simultaneously supported.

Honestly, it was news to me too, but that’s what our documentation says and was present before the app update back in May. That line also states that the number of controllers is limited by the number of UPnP subscriptions that our players will support for a single UPnP service.

I can see if I can get more information on this, but the above is what I can find in our systems.
