I don’t know if it’s just me but every time I use the App, which is every day, something doesn’t work like it should. I’m talking about basics like getting sound out of speakers/rooms selected and adjusting volume. What is the f’ing problem? It’s been 6 months since Sonos promised to fix it and it is still a horrible experience trying to get everything to work. I just want to be able to listen to music without worrying about out whether the sound will come out where I want it and at a volume I can control.

Right at this moment I have music playing in three rooms and the only way to control volume is to physically walk to each speaker to make adjustments. In the App, the sliders don’t show volume levels and do not allow adjustments. WTF. I know I’m not alone when I say that wish I could get my thousands of dollars back that I have invested. This company has failed all of us loyal supporters. The sound is great but it’s no longer an enjoyable experience to engage with the App. The competition will catch up and take away all their customers if this bullshit doesn’t stop ASAP. There are several products I would like to add to my system but I’m not spending another nickel until they right the ship.

Maybe its me, but I don’t think so. Does the company have any response other than touting their efforts to fix glitches? It seems like the entire platform is bad and should just be replaced with something simple and reliable that works. Am I wrong?

Have you tried the following:

  • Delete the app and re-install it
  • Update your device if one is available

Thanks for the suggestions. If I delete the app, won’t I lose all the data? When I log back in after reinstalling, do I have to set up all my speakers and settings again?

There is very little data in the app.  All the system data is in the players.  You can delete the app all you want, nothing will be lost.

I would suggest that you start by making sure that all of your speakers have the latest firmware. The best way to do this is to use the App that is available for PC and Mac as these seem to be the most reliable devices for this task based on feedback here.

Note that if you have multiple speakers you may need to run this more than once to get a “clean” install.

Everything is up to date when the App says “no update required”.

Personally I have never needed to uninstall and reinstall the App but that does seem to work for some.

If none of that works the sledgehammer approach is:

  • Power off all the speakers
  • Power off you router
  • Power on your router and wait for it to complete its startup
  • Power on the speakers

I would say though that a delay of 30 or more seconds is not unusual in my experience when changing volume so sometimes the actual answer is patience.

Good luck.

Thanks. I will try these fixes. I appreciate the help. Hopefully my experience will improve. Got too much invested for it not to work as promised! Thanks all.

I have the same problems as you and found the Sonos web app this evening. My system works as before the may update when using the web app.. https://play.sonos.com/en-us/web-app works on phone if you change to desktop version in settings, but it's not a very phone friendly ui.

Thanks for that info. I ran a system update (from my phone) yesterday and it is working fine now - but will keep the web app in mind next time things go haywire.
