The New Sonos iOS app is absolutely terrible. If you haven’t upgraded yet please please don’t. There are so many missing features and bugs to boot. It looks like an pre-Alpha version of software rushed to market without being properly tested or checked.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Sonos bring back the S2 app for download on the App Store. If I could downgrade I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m a long time user and fan of Sonos products but frankly this is a big miss a disaster. This new app is almost unusable. This is Sonos’s Windows Vista moment.
Please listen to your users Sonos, negative feedback is everywhere now. Please give us back the S2 app whilst this one goes back to the drawing board or perhaps the trash can.
I am ready to kick the whole system to the curb!!! On the phone for hours yesterday trying to figure out why I can, out of nowhere, no longer connect to wifi. Seems as though the app has gotten worse, if that’s even possible, all i can see is my services bubbling in the background for several minutes and then when I try to select my speaker… nothing!!!
Buddy had me reset everything rendering them completely useless!! Can’t use any of it!!
Extremely frustrated right now! I have no clue what my next step should be??? If anyone out there has any ideas I’d certainly be open to them!
Also have a mesh wifi which as I understand is not sonos friendly but up until I purchased an amp has never been an issue.

Same here, working for a week or so- now no content, not connected although playing music - awful since May.,
was looking to get more units - glad I’ve waited
look for another system I guess
I’m confused. We have the S2 app now, how can one ‘give us back the S2 app’?

No, we had the S2 app, now there is only the “Sonos app” and S1
I get most frustrated with Sonos marketing name games.
S3 would make sense and cause less confusing, both non-traditional ideas for the marketing folk.
Can anyone offer some alternatives to Sonos?
It’s clear Sonos as a company don’t care about what any of us think, as they’ve left their customers in the lurch for over six months now. They release good hardware coupled with bad software. My mind boggles at their arrogance of denying all the problems people are having and just continuing on as if we aren’t all experiencing endless problems.
Are there any reasonably priced competitors or platforms out there? If not, it’s only a matter of time as anyone could do better than this.
Absolute crap now. I was once so happy and recommended Sonos 100%. Now, I tell people to find something else
Sonos has bait and switched us. The new user interface is awful. If the OG app had been this bad, I would never have spent 1000’s of $$ on these speakers.
Perhaps Sonos is planning to get into the Higher Education business and start offering postgraduate degrees in IT and networking because that is what you now seem to need to get their buggy, dysfunctional system to work these days! After reading many impenetrable acronym riddled messages claiming to help us poor IT illiterates, I bravely delved into our Router settings and remained there just long enough to lose the will to live. Please can we just go back to how things once were when moving the volume button actually made a difference and grouping speakers occurred the same day that you requested it?

Which mesh system?

You can try heos or Bluesound. App on heos is not that great but improving. Sound quality is better than Sonos. I use Sonos in the garden and garage. Inside my home heos combined with real hifi system
WiiM is good and constantly improving. They have now collaborated with Audio Pro which now puts them in the streaming speaker market.
Just here to whinge, have not read all 12 pages and I have not intent, but I have had issues since this app was released. As of today (9th December), I continue to have issues where it takes 55 seconds to play one song from a playlist, which is then skipped twice.
I have spent hours on the phone to support, and to level 2 support which all seem to blame my Unifi network. The network was fine prior to the crap app being released. I have followed every guide, plugged and unplugged, wifi’d and wired, turned on and off…..
Damn you Sonos and your crappy software.
HEOS and Bluesound are constantly searched in my house, and if I had a spare 7 grand, Sonos products would be literally torched in the backyard while using a house speaker system that actually works.
Just to offer some insight from another thread, I fiddled a bit with my setup to see how different changes affect the responsiveness of the app.
In the previous generation of software, one Sonos speaker had to be wired to the router, and the rest could be wireless. Sonos don’t recommend this approach anymore as they have switched to using Wifi instead of SonosNet. Regardless, I wired one speaker to my router and turned off Wifi on just that speaker in Sonos settings.
It’s made the app much faster for me. Not as good as the old app, but at least usable. Before Sonos whinge “see it’s your network, nothing to do with us”, I’d remind them that whilst their new app is busy being dysfunctional, their exiisting Mac & Windows S2 apps have no trouble controlling a fully wireless Sonos system, with no dropouts and no lag.
So if you have a fully wireless Sonos system -- as Sonos recommend these days -- try wiring one of your speakers with an ethernet cable, turn its Wifi off, and see how you get on.
This might all have been mentioned elsewhere, and it’s not definitely not a solution, but might offer some respite to others suffering the same problems.
