Alarms on the Sonos app don’t end up playing the chime on the speakers. The app version I have now allows me to add and update speakers without getting stuck in the update log in error loop that iOS was having for a few weeks. I can set the alarm, time, days etc but it just never ends up playing. Unplugging the speakers and restarting my phone doesn’t fix it
Found a new alarm issue this morning.
Yesterday I grouped two zones Kitchen and Bathroom while listening to music. I did not ungroup them after.
This morning when my Kitchen alarm went off it also played in the Bedroom.
The backend process needs to be updated to ungroup any zones prior to the Alarm as I had defined the Alarm for Kitchen only.
Thanks
Many issues with Alarms in the new Sonos app. Glad to see the Alarms function is back, but it's still broken:
Is any of this on the radar of the dev team? Will fixes be available any time soon?
Adding to this, the Alarms function suddenly disappeared today, along with numerous other function in the Manage screen. Happened when I cleared cache and data & reinstalled the app, in an attempt to fix the alarms-not-going-off issue. After reinstall, a lot of the Manage functions were gone. Weird, and what's weirder: they're back now.
Just wondering if there is a way to turn off the gradual increasing volume when the alarm goes off? There is no setting to turn that off. I prefer to not have gradual increasing volume when it goes off.
Even with the update today 80.03.06 still no alarms.
Yesterday I managed to get through to support chat with a case number.
fully outlined that with every update the app generally gets worse. about the only function still working is volume control. (whoopee they added a volume index number to the slider in the release)
After over an hour on the chat yesterday - the tech person - said “it is a weekend we can’t help you” Try back during the week.
So if you can’t actually provide support why bother ?
No Alarms,
No Local Playlists
No, No, No
what actually works?
As of yesterday
Over the coming weeks, we will reintroduce the following features, while fixing bugs and addressing performance issues:
Local music library search and playback: Mid-June
Update Wi-Fi settings: Mid-June
What month is it where you are? June 17th here - that is mid June (I think) so one might have expected the Local music library. But Alarms still don’t show up.
I have lost all confidence in Sonos.
So time consuming and wasting my time uninstalling and reinstalling the app -- just put the old one back it worked!
(Yes all hardware is up to date)
What a pile of …
Hello Together,
a few days before i found out, that the alarm clock is not working (is not shown in the menu) because i prohibited my Sonos products from connecting with the internet.
With the old App version, even in offline mode the alarm clock was working.
With the new version of the Sonos app, the alarm clock with its timers will only be shown, if i connect the sound boxes with the internet.
I‘m not quite sure, why this cautious exists, but i hope that Sonos will change this immediately.
i do not want to connect my system with the internet, but want to use the alarm clock feature.
With 80.03.06 SonosNet management is now available. Somebody talk about when and how to use it given the new cloud based system...
I’m finding that my alarms just never go off.
I’ve deleted them all and added new ones.
Have Tested different sources, even the dreaded chime.
And tried on a variety of hardware types and yet nothing works.
Can somebody explain when we might get functional alarms back?
My alarms are still not saving in the app

I managed to resolve this.
Sonos seem to be using some third party software (Airship I think) to manage the roll out of new features.
Some Firewall management / Privacy apps block traffic to Airship assuming it is adware / malware.
Turning off the Firewall temporarily and accessing / using the features seems to allow the system “to configure these new features”
Turning the firewall back on seems not to impact the operation of the new features.
I’m sure Sonos must be aware of these quirks, Airship certainly are https://support.airship.com/hc/en-us/articles/215182466-What-should-I-do-if-the-Airship-SDK-was-falsely-identified-as-adware) so would be useful to add some debugging steps to FAQs etc.
Alarm visible again, setting alarm time work ok, however, no alarm signal is triggered. Separate Sonos speakers, none of them is triggered to follow the set alarm schedule.
So the alarms time is in UTC time, I’m in Australia and I have to set them to 10:50pm to have them work at 8:50am.
Also if your alarm is Monday to Friday you have to set Sunday to Thursday for it to work correctly.
And if that wasn’t enough of a pain changing them in the app doesn’t always update them correctly. Also the display of all alarms will take a certain amount of time to update…
Great job team I know you’re only a Billion dollars business.
Alarms are not saving for me in the Sonos app
Don’t regret you don’t have a Mac or PC!!!!!
Sonos has decided to scrap every function on Mac and PC and FORCE you to buy an iPhone or Android to use their products!
It’s time for us customers to tell Sonos what WE want, NOT what Sonos would like to develop!
We have all spent a lot of money on Sonos products and now they show us all how much they DON’T love Sonos customers!!
Get rid of Sonos and find a new product, please share your findings here so we can buy a new solid product!

Uhhhhh, the Mac/PC app has been deprecated in functionality for almost 5 years. Where have you been?
Im sure the advertising standards authority and consumer rights act would have something to say about this. I’ve waited three years for my speakers to work… so frustrating.
We are all due a refund if Sonos don’t proceed to fix the issues.
First they removed the bulky controller. Then replaced with a less bulky controller.
Then the digital app/controller came out (after we had all spent hundreds on the controllers)
Bbc radio channels no longer work unless played through the bbc sounds app on Sonos
Spotify then froze on adverts (now fixed on my app)
Alarms feature completely broke in 20/2021 and now Sonos alarms will only chime
Recently they removed all personalisation and cool features from app
It seems some people are saying that alarms are back in the app? Is this on Android or iPhone? I'm on Android and still can't find any alarm feature. I'm on the latest release (02-Jul).
I was excited to see Alarms were again available in the Android app, but silly me...I should have known. It's only an illusion. Any attempted edits cannot be saved. The save button is totally non-functional. I thought maybe that was only for old alarms - ok, no problem I'll create new. Nope, won't save those either. Giving me what amounts to a mock up of this feature does not count as having brought it back.

Forced to update to 80.04.05, and there is no alarm setting in my Manage menu.
Thanks Sonos, super duper quality control, I use the alarm functionality every day, and because you had to launch a set of mediocre headphones you decided to ruin my system.

It’s there for everyone else. Did you also run a System Update too? And re-start the app?

If you are using an ad blocker like a pihole or nextdns Sonos doesn’t like you blocking their data collection so no feature updates will work.
If not try deleting then reinstalling the app.

I do run a pihole, and holy hell, are they really that desperate for spying on their users that they actively remove features to track us?
New firmware and application (UK, Android) and alarms are present and manageable but none actually work, either chime, stream or radio - new or pre-existing just silence!
(I do have correct timezone and daylight savings set too and have tried variations...)
Well I take it back, 3 days since update and no alarms including this morning... Posted the above and gave it one more try by changing the time on an existing alarm (no other change) and what do you know it triggered ♂️
Hopefully it will remain working...
