The new app works on my phone but not at all on my iPad. If I’m out no one at home can access the Sonos!
Any suggestions would be helpful - other than replacing Sonos with Alexa!!!!

Have you taken any steps to get the iPad connected?

Is the iPad on the same network/VLAN as your Sonos system?

Reset the app and try connecting to the system again.

Uninstall the app, then reinstall it. It should ask you if you want to connect to your system

I too have this issue as well, new app runs on I phone (SE)  and was working on IPad Pro (iOS 17.4.1) when first installed.

Opening the Sonos app this morning on the IPad, icons for music services were grayed out and functionality to select speakers was such that when I selected a set, the app stayed on the speakers screen and I could not  go back, scroll, or open anything else on the app.

I uninstalled the app, re installed it and it seemed to work, I selected speakers and music service and let it play. Came back a couple hours later, opened the Sonos app on the IPad and again the music services icons were grayed out and the  app informed me my music queue was empty.

all the while I am hearing the music I had selected playing around me.

going to my IPhone (SE) the app seems to run OK. Though I have seen it a little slow to “catch up” to what is playing and on which speakers.(data collection?)

Looks like a software issue to me, shall we fix this, sooner rather than later please?

I honestly am not sure it’s a controller issue, as it runs well on my two iPads Pros, which are both running iPad OS 17.5.1

What I’m suspecting is more of a network issue, where the iPad is not connected to the same ‘node’ of your WiFi as the other device (your phone).

Is there any chance you’re running some sort of network extender, or mesh network of some type? How is your network set up?

I feel the same way, which is why I started a post asking users to post their network setup. It does not have to be a detailed description, just what they use. Just a few people responded with networks similar to my own, that has all APs hardwired. 5 of my 11 speakers are also hardwired.

I tend to stay away from Unifi myself. Seems to be an excellent system if you’re a networking expert, whereas for mere mortals like myself, just too many options to mess up. ;)

My network is the same as it’s been for at least a year. No changes. Just the app. This is a Sonos issue, not my network…BTW now my I phone SE Sonos app can’t find my system at all, not just my I pad.

sonos fix this… let us go back to the old app.

oh, and music I had on several speakers is still playing from earlier today, but I can’t control it from a device!!!

The app has regained functionality on my phone still no joy on I pad. Same network

I am seeing a very similar symptom. I actually have 2 iPads, on the same network. One works, the other used to work, but doesn’t today. Same version of IPadOS. I have tried removing and reinstalling the app with no success. It let me log in (VERY slowly) and it can see my devices, but almost everything is greyed out and there is nothing I can do to control the system.

Still having issues, opened Sonos app this morning, on my iPad, all icons grayed out. Tried rebooting the iPad, the app then opened and I was able to select speakers, etc.

on iPhone,  app opened up grayed out but then came to life after 15-20 seconds and I was able to select and pause/play.

Then went back to iPad Sonos app and it is grayed out again.

I have the same issue.   iPhone and iPad on same network.  Both have latest version of IOS 17.5.1.  Home Network is a 10G eithernet with fibre between the switches.  iPas is connected with an Apple 1GB Eithernet Dongle and mounted in the wall.

Ping to rounter from iPad is 0.19 ms, ping form the iPhone (WiFI - 6) is 0.359 ms.

Everything has been stable and working with no changes to the hardware or network until Sonos dropped the new app.  Its an App problem, it is not a hardware or network problem.

THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED.  We have Sonos in every room, including connect amps and speakers everywhere.

Hi @thatSTEVE, two ideas for you from my own experience:

  1. Make sure you’re “signed in” to the Sonos app. The new app REALLY wants you to be signed in, oddly enough for things like your local library.
  2. Try disconnecting the Apple Ethernet Dongle and connect to the same Wi-Fi network that all your Sonos devices are on (as an experiment).

Lately when I open the app on iPad, it will stay grayed out for a period of 10 or 15 seconds then it may ask me to sign in or it may not, and the icons will then become active… same thing on the iPhone and lately it’s been working, but there seems to be a lot of delay between the steps of actually playing some music Very odd program. It feels like it’s become over complex for some reason on a coding level

Oddly, I’m not experiencing that issue, on either of my iPads, or on my iPhone.

Have you reset your network, by powering off/unplugging all your Sonos devices, then rebooting your network? I’d wait a couple of minutes after rebooting the router before I plugged in the Sonos, and another couple of for them to boot up, before testing.

I've tried all the above solutions and like many the app works on my iPhone but not on my 7th generation iPad. The app seems to be trying to load and I see things grayed out but I'm unable to access. This is a Sonos problem. Sonos please fix this. Thank you

Same her but have found if you close the app down and then reopen it it will usually be okay.

I have the same issue with the app not working on my iPad.  It looks like it's loading, but just doesnt.  I’ve removed it and reinstalled.  It finds my system, but the next time it doesnt.  This is just another problem with this recent app upgrade that isn't working.  Please investigate this and correct it.  Or hire the right techs who can fix it.  Please, these continual issues with connection are well past annoying.

Same here and no solution was found. The only way I get round it is to select additional rooms (speakers) on the PC version / Sonos controller and I can then adjust the volumes on my IPad. Not good but there is a slight work around.

Try sonopad app £4 as workaround
