I’ve had to uninstall the S2 app on my 2021 Motorola G phone as it just didnt work. This was a few months ago. I was thinking, ok Sonos developers screwed it up a bit, I’ll wait and try in a year. So should I try and see if it works now? Have they fixed it? Your thoughts?
Mine has never stopped working. Although the functionality gaps are certainly not all closed.
Just give it a try… Imo the app has improved in the meantime and speaking for myself I can use my system without issues.
You can delete individual songs from the queue?
I reinstalled s2 and it still hangs on the first screen. So I give up. Lucky Spotify still works fine. And so does Sonos Web app. Just not on cells.
You can delete individual songs from the queue?
No, I can’t… but for me it’s not an issue, because I don’t need that option. I keep on waiting for some missing features, but for me the most important thing is that all functions that are officially included do work. The only thing I‘m not happy about is the library album view issue for compilations.
If the controller app is ‘hanging’ on the first screen, that suggests it can’t reach the Internet and/or your Sonos devices, for some reason. As a guess, I’d be looking at such potential issues as a bad mesh network setup, a ‘work’ profile, or a VPN, but you’d likely get better help if you were to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
I am a brand new Sonos user with just a single Era 100. So, I never had the old app and nothing to compare against, but at a top level, I can tell, the new app (android) works mostly fine for me. Details:
The Good:
- The app looks modern and slick enough
- The app is very responsive (launching, navigating, starting and stopping play, search, etc.)
- The initial setup worked perfectly quick and simple
- The app has mostly all the functionality I’d expect (finding and selecting what to play, playlists, etc.)
- voice control with Sonos voice assistance works well - can hear me from far and understands me well
The Not so Good:
- Amazon Music intermittently became unavailable on day 2 of my usage. Had to remove it and add it again. It has been fine since then for more than 5 days.
- Alexa voice assistance works well, but was a bit fiddly to setup
- Alexa voice assistance does not react to “stop playing”.
- Some services like myTuner are listed as available, but then most of the stations on them do not work.
I have to say, I was very apprehensive buying the Era 100 having heard all the complains about the Android App, but I am genuinely relieved - the system is more than usable and far form completely broken as it must have been few months ago
Motorola G here. Hangs on first screen. Eventually get notice that it is not responding, close or wait. Selecting wait eventually opens system. Hugely unsatisfactory. Wonder if it is an issue with Motorola G? Wife has same phone and same problem. I whined in here about it some months ago and have never found a resolution. I keep an eye out for updates hoping for a resolution but so far, no joy.
