First of all, let me state that we are still running S1 here.

We have been Sonos users for 15+ years. Our first use case was playing music from a NAS - initially in NYC (so internet available) and then a place upstate with intermittent / slow internet - that was a challenge, on occasion, for firmware and controller updates.

Internet upstate is now much more reliable but, it does come in overground and when we lose power - not infrequent (we have a generator for those occasions) - we often lose internet as well (our provider uses the same utility poles, generally). We still want to be able to play music from our NAS when the internet is unavailable.

Now, to my question, with the S2 app are we obliged to have internet access in order for our Sonos to play music from our NAS?
