Hi,

For the past 4 months I am having intermittent issues with my system.

I have 6 Sonos devices. Many are hardwired to an Amplifi mesh network. The mesh-points are all on an ethernet backbone (except one). All Sonos devices that are not on ethernet are within 10' of a mesh-point.

Computer, iphone, ipad and sonos system are all up to date.

Sonos app is many times unresponsive (press play/pause nothing happens, or says playing on all speakers but some rooms are not playing).

I have factory reset all the Sonos devices

Several of the Sonos speakers are hardwired to ethernet backbone Amplifi cubes
All speakers are within 10' of Amplifi cubes
Issue happens when streaming Pandora/Spotify or playing local music files
The issue can happen when there is no other significant network traffic
Internet speed test 700mbs, no jitter or latency

Any ideas?

Thanks

WM:0 indicates they’re running on SonosNet. Make sure that’s using channel 1, 6 or 11, and if so try changing to one of the other of those three channels. Also ensure your mesh network is locked to one other of those three channels - not the same as you use for SonosNet.

With that great Wi-Fi setup why are you using Sonosnet?

I'd sure try putting everything on your Wi-Fi by unplugging the Ethernet.

Thanks nik9669a and Stanley_4 for your reply.

  1. Not sure how to change the wifi channels for Sonos - I dont see anything in the web interface. Not so sure that that would be a great idea since I am in New York City. Lots of wifi congestion. Think it is probably better for everything to find the least congested channels???
  2. Thought that ethernet would be more reliable. So you are saying if wifi is strong it is a better option?

Looking around in the web interface I found this chart. Not sure how to interpret it but it looks like some things may not be optimal.

If you want them to remain connected via Ethernet turn off their WoFi radios.

Wi-Fi channel changing is in the Apps only not the web controller page.

The problem  with running Sonosnet is that you have to find a good channel to run it on in addition to what your wifi is on. Only 3 clear channels and congestion from neighbors isn't going to help.

Ethernet is better BUT it comes with constraints, I did a lot of reading here before deciding to go Wi-Fi only here. Even the signal strength info available is more useful than that old chart that doesn't fully support new Sonos.

Mopac's suggestion is good but it can impact Sub surround operation.

Go with simplicity first, go more complicated only if needed.

Yes… if you have a soundbar you need to leave the radio on.  The sub(s) & surround use the soundbar’s radio.

Thanks everyone. I Am going to be away until early January -will test and post back when I return.

Hope everyone ha a nice holiday
