I've spent hours searching q&as on support and community, upgrading, downgrading (or failing to), playing with  s1 and s2 app, web page, factory resets, adding, checking permissions on NAS and yes SMB2 (whatever that is) and am going round in circles, speakers all have permissions ok on router and network drive.

I tried to downgrade product to S1 but when I factory reset and then try to downgrade it requires me to set up the network again which then adds the speaker back as it cannot connect to to do the downgrade and then am back to square 1.

Is it actually possible to play my own music from a NAS on latest software?

Is it possible any other way? And idiots guide needed.

Or do I just accept that 5 speakers are not fit for purpose after the so called upgrade and find a new system?

Don't try to downgrade to S1 if you want to continue to use your NAS. S1 does not support SMB v2.

Do you have the app on a PC or Mac? Users have found success using a PC app instead of the mobile app to connect to and edit the local libraries..

Have you upgraded to the latest version of the app? Access to your local library has been restored and you can now search for artists, songs and albums.

What type of network do you have? ISPs device, your own router, prosumer network or mesh?

Do you have a Bridge or Boost still connected? If so, remove the Bridge/Boost and connect a main speaker to your network instead.

Thanks for replying.. all speakers show they are s2, app (android) is up to date.  Weirdly i now have 1 speaker not linked to the others which I am able to see on pc app(windows) and play music which shows it is actually possible. The other 3 show on the app but no music library is visible although it has accepted the path, they allegedly link to TV but TV doesn't seem to like them unless I keep reselecting them and I really cannot be bothered anymore.

When I open/close the pc app sometimes it shows the 3 but no music library,  says indexing but then doesn't  . Sometimes it will show the other speaker with the music library, seems completely random.

I don't want to mess around trying to link/reset the one which is working and potentially lose that until I can get the other 3 sorted.

Am at a loss to understand why all 4 are up to date yet only 1 (same model as 2 of the others) actually works.  Currently trying to resurrect an old tablet to see if I can set the working one up on there and then add the others to that 🤷‍♀️

There is no logic as far as I can tell to what's happening and its doing my head in, it really should not  be this difficult.

And what I really find odd is i cannot add speakers on PC app but can on the phone app. But the pc can see music on 1 speaker but not the others.  So to play anything you seem to need to use phone to set upthe system and pc to use it. Top work sonos (yeah sarcasm)

Sooo upgrade to app this morning, the working speaker appears and I can finally play my music, braved adding another speaker, success! 2 down, 2 to go. Wasted so many hours on this but finally I can annoy the neighbours again 😜

( couldn't figure out how to delete the question)
